- Chris bellThis number calls my cell at least twice a week and some dumb recording comes on asking for somebody who does not own this number. Who ever this is they need to get a life and a real job. You guys are a joke AND THIS IS A SCAM.

- A C| 1 replyGetting old this number calls every day looking for someone named Cerveza or something, I have complained more than once and can't get them to stop.

- W.T.I got a call just now but didn't answer it and a voicemail with only a hangup recorded. I have dealt with this before and blocking the number through your cell provider works. If you are Sprint just use *2 to get a toll free operator to add to the block list or I think you can do it through your online account too. Good luck.
- NAThis # is getting on my last nerve! Lets rally up and whoop some 213 ass!

- i don't like to answer the phone| 2 repliesi just got a call too, they were asking for my dad. if this is a debt collection agency, doesn't that mean that they are trying to collect on unpaid debt that is out there? if you didn't owe $$$ then they wouldn't be trying to contact you, am i right?
- Resident47 replies to i don't like to answer the phoneNo, you're wrong, as the misplaced call to you should help demonstrate. You don't need a valid debt or a derogatory trade line on your credit reports to be hassled by debt collectors. They call third parties to alleged debtors all the time for permitted skip tracing purposes, or often pretending it's a trace to annoy and shame an intended target whose location is already known. Runaway skip tracing is arguably the most common problem the debt industry creates.
As to the "unpaid debt", it is often not actually owed to anyone but a lump of unclaimed profit which has been cut loose as junk debt for a deep discount after the original creditor has written off the full face value. - Resident47 replies to i don't like to answer the phoneSilly me, I forgot to mention all the calls for debt already paid, accounts created through faulty billing, debt discharged in bankruptcy, and of course "debt" which never existed yet collected through illegal threats. Then you have the calls to workplaces, relatives, ex-spouses, school age children, neighbors, anyone with a slightly similar name, anyone who might once have served dinner to you, anyone who once breathed the same air .... I'm sure I left out a few.
It should never be assumed that a debt collector has a valid reason to call or a valid debt at issue. - Resident47 replies to A CLet me guess, you and Chris Bell relied on verbal demands only? This only makes them think you're a liar. If you're not who they seek, send the agency a cease-comm notice via USPS Certified with return card. The FTC and many consumer watchdogs explain how to draft one. This will set a legal landmine, as such a notice is ignored at their peril.

http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fdcpajump.shtm - Not Fun| 1 replyThe person calling from this number has called me almost every other day for about a month. They (guessing it’s a group) has not left a voicemail. However when I did pick up and listen the message prerecorded message asks for Angel. I have no connection or even know of a person named Angel.
The other thing mentioned on the phone message was to press One if are Angel and 2 if you are not. I hung up after that - my guess is that as soon as they know that you are picking up on the other end they keep on going after you.
If this number comes up I would suggest ignoring it - I just have the phone number saved in my phone as "Don't Pick Up". - SD surfer girl| 1 replyI have received calls from this number asking for a person that is not me. The recording says if I am not the person then press 2. That didn't work because they called again. I am going to follow Resident47 reply and send a legal letter becuase they can not harass you by phone.

>< - Miss Titan| 1 replyI just call this number its a debt collector. But they call at unusual hours.
- Caller: First National Bank
- Call type: Debt collector
- Resident47 replies to SD surfer girlYou won't regret sending a cease-comm letter. The peace of mind is cheap at $5.59 in USPS fees. The mint green card is like a winning raffle ticket if the collector is dumb enough to disobey your order.
The letter need not be fancy or loaded with jargon. Just provide the phone numbers you want protected, briefly review the calling history, and ask for the calls to cease. Print, and do not sign, your name. You don't want to find your signature magically appearing on some agreement you'd never made. - Resident47 replies to Not Fun} ".. as soon as they know that you are picking up on the other end they keep on going after you."
A determined collector with an autodialer won't be much deterred or encouraged by a lack of response or an inclination to answer calls. The clumsy self-selection options are an industry response to privacy constraints in the FDCPA and some famous case law regarding contact with non-debtors.
Ignoring and blocking calls is not a strategy. You must confront the offending collection agency if you want a definite change in its behavior. I've been down this road before with skip tracing collectors, and not one has ceased calling voluntarily, despite claims that I may "ignore" misdirected calls. - Resident47 replies to Miss TitanBy "unusual" would you mean outside those hours permitted by the FDCPA or state law? Monitor closely and sue for relief if necessary.
