A lady told me it's about the PNB overseas calling package.

I didn't answer the call because I didn't know who it was.  They continue to call my cell number and home number.  My home answering machine picked up and there was a lot of talking and voices in the background but no message was left.

What overseas calling package?  What does that mean, and what did they want from you?

just got this call too - noisy background / indian accent (almost sounded fake??)  Asked if this was a business, I said yes, then he said okay, goodbye.

Since calling off a friendship with a psycho 3 years ago, I've been getting all kinds of hang-up calls and strange calls (like this one) DAILY.  Changing my phone number 5 times in 2 years did not stop the calls.  Recently this 213 number also joined the party.  I am not surprised of getting it.  Somehow I linked this kind of harrassing calls to this psycho.  I believe these numbers are 'hired' for harrassing purposes.

don't know why i have been getting calls from several numbers from LA. They called my number at least twice a day 5 days a week. I hope there's a system that can block these numbers effectively.

Shown above are the following numbers that have called my cell, work, and home constantly for over the past month.  Same M.O. someone with a thick East Indian accent claiming to be from either:
1) State Attorney's office
2) Federal Bureau Agency
3) Pay Day Loan Office
4) Sheriff Department
And many more but these are the most common ones I received.  Since they change their number constantly it is somewhat difficult to track.  I currently record the number and if they leave a message record that too and send to the local police.  The local police have traced them and said that they are calling from the Philippines and South Korea.  This is a constant battle.  Now the question is how/why?

Well if you ever applied for a job these days using Monster, Yahoo Jobs, and Career Builder or even IF you truly did apply for PAYDAY Loan online they have your name and number which is constantly sold over and over.

I have spoken to these idiots every time and whenever I ask where they are calling from or what is there job/work reference # they hang up.  THESE PEOPLE ARE ON A PHISHING EXPEDITION.  DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION EVEN IF THEY CLAIM THAT THEY WILL SEND THE SHERIFF TO YOUR HOME.  At first I was scare, but I am glad that I thought about it rationally and went to the local police with the details.

FACTS:  
1)If you are struggling to pay bills a collection agency would not threaten to send sheriff to your home or force you to pay via western union/over the phone.  You would receive appropriate documentation via certified mail

2)NO ONE from  LOCAL STATE ATTORNEY’s OFFFICE would call you and try to coerce you to pay

3)NO ONE from  any FEDERAL LEVEL of government would call you and try to coerce you to pay

4)IF you DID APPLY for PAYDAY LOANS and having difficulty paying-call the PAYDAY LOAN company directly and make payment arrangements

5)REMEMBER- if you don’t recognize the name if given, nor recall from distant past immediately IT IS A SCAM.  GET AS MUCH INFORMATION AS POSSSIBLE AND REPORT IT TO THE LOCAL POLICE (HARRASSMENT, false representation of a federal agent, great duress, etc) AND  

6)Go to DONOTCALL.gov and FCC.gov- THIS IS THE FEDERAL LEVEL TO FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT

REMEMBER BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE AND KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AS A US CITIZEN.

I called this number back. One of those 'habeeb patels' answered. I told him if he called this number one more time I would be on his ass like white on rice. And the do not call thing must be a scam too.
