I got a call from this # stating I've been accused of tax fraud and I should call before it goes to the federal gov't or I'm arrested.

I also receivex the same call. How annoying>>>!!!!

Received a call from this number. It was a recording. Sounded alarming. Something about the Federal government.

Usual IRS scam.  You are going to be arrested, etc.  Strong Indian? accent.

Another scam we are all stupid I guess

My mother just received a call stating she owes the IRS and if she doesn't pay the police will be showing up at her door to arrest her. I am so thankful my brother was there. The funny thing is when he told me and I called THE NUMBER  back the idiot answered "IRS I.m ...... badge number...." I played along for a while until I had his attention once I said I was going to report  him to the police, all of a sudden the line went die... IMAGINE THAT.

Robocall fraud. Sez you are wanted by the IRS or something. Expects you to pay up with a credit card and get swindled. Where is the government and the phone companies to ban this crap and arrest EVERY slob who perpetrates these scams?

I just called them and told them I am not stupid and nice try for thinking I would fall for that and that I have forwarded their number to IRS and FBI and they are aware of them and their whereabouts - he told me to do something very fowl to him

No. The call was not a from a debt collector; it was attempted fraud. The US Treasury does not inform you of problems with your taxes with a phone recording. I verified this by calling them.

The problem is that there are hundreds, maybe thousands of scams and ways to fake or change phone numbers. By this time the IRS gets to your complaint, the guy will be operating from a  different phone. And he may be calling from India.

Yes. The name "US Treasury" was used in this attempted fraud.

The only person who is subject to arrest — if caught — is the caller from India who is perpetrating a scam. If you call anyone, call the FBI to report a scam call. I tried reporting it to the US Treasury's LA office since the caller is impersonating one of their agents. I was told to call their fraud hot line. When I called there, I received a message that there were so many calls about impersonations that wouldn't be able to leave a message. But you can leave a message on the US Treasury's website.

Same scam as everyone else.

The IRS doesn't leave voice mail messages either. Have a nice day robo dialer. No name as to who needs to call and no case number. Will report through the US Treasury website.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
