DEPARTMENT OF LEGAL AFFAIRS PHONE SCAM ALERT! I JUST RECEIVED A VOICEMAIL FROM THESE SCUM BAGS. THEY PREY ON GULLIBLE PEOPLE AND THE ELDERLY. GOOGLE SEARCH FOR THIS:---> IRS warns Hoosiers of phone scam. <--- Don't worry, they will just change it and use a different number in a few days. Below is the message I received. “This message is intended to contact xxxx. Hello, this is James Harris with the Department of Legal Affairs, and I was trying to reach you in regards to a very important issue. The number to reach me is 213-928-2101. If for any reason you are busy to call back, I would suggest you to have your retain attorney to do it for you, as delay in calling us might end up into a legal mess for you. Until then, have a blessed day.”

Got a call from these guys. Said they were calling me about a legal action filed against my name. I told them to mail me their information and he said they did already ... TWICE! I hung up on them, it sounded like some sort of scam. I'm pretty sure I don't have any legal issues with anyone.

My adult son received this message as well. Exactly the same wording as "Department of Legal Affairs".  What nerve they have.   Are they ever caught?

I got this same call today from this number. Scum bags.

Called me to tell me that my taxes were deliquent and that I would be arrested today!  He said an officer would arrive at my house within one to two hours.  What is interesting is that he did not ask me for any personal information, so I am not sure what the scam is.

Got a call from these idiot's saying they were going to take immediate action on us....  I told them they were full of [***] and asked for their Gov. ID. numbers and phone number... which they readily provided.  Then I asked for their address and that's when it got really nasty..  They hung up on me!..  So I kept on calling them back and again asking for their address.  After two or three calls the guy told me to stop calling them and to [***] off...  Yep.. They told me to [***] off...  I said but don't you want me to pay you money for some taxes??  He hung up on me again....    So.....  TOTAL SCAM!!  I had a good laugh with [***] with them though....

Scam. Claiming to be from legal affair department, and they started legal proceeding against me.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.

I just got a call from these scammers.  "James White" from Dept. of Legal Affairs from US Treasury said in heavy accent that someone had come to my home twice before but I was not there, so calling me to tell me they will have to file a legal complaint about IRS etc. and they will file some complaint against me.

I received three of these calls over the last three days!!!

Answering machine message left for me, didn't include my last name.  "This is James white from department of legal affairs calling in regard to a reported issue.  This is a verbal notification regarding law enforcement taxes.  Please call 213-437-6845.  Have your retain lawyer call."  Something to that effect.  The guy had a thick accent--  possibly Indian?  I'm not sure

& "sounded" real until I read the posts above. We do not owe anyone any money to anyone & are very current with our taxes. What idiots!!

I got the phone call too. Called them back and no answer.

"This is James Haddis, and I am with the department of legal affairs... This is a verbal notification for you, in regards to the enforcement action that has been started on your name.  My number is 347-515-6003.  If for any reason you are too busy to call back, I would suggest you to tell your retained attorney to do it for you, as delaying calling us might end up into a legal mess for you."  Called back, no answer.  Then "James" called back, and I demanded to know from what city or state his department of legal affairs he was calling from.  "New York," he said.  Voice sounded like "Ted Cruise," kind of a mid-western drawl with Bronx slurring, if you can imagine.  This is way too similar to calls reported on your site, so I thought it should be reported.
