- VLRI am constantly getting calls from "Rachel from Cardholders." No matter how many times I ask to have my name removed from their automated calling service, they still call. I actually spoke to a live person once who arrogantly said do you really think you can do anything to stop us from calling...we'll just switch to another number. So now I get calls from different numbers and if I answer, it's always "Rachel from Cardholdlers." Interesting she changed the message now to only one option which is Press 1 to get an Operator for low rates, etc. When I pressed 1, I got a live person and I said I am calling about these automated calls that I am constantly receiving and he cut me off and hung up. In the past, there used to be another option to press to remove your name from the list (even though it didn't work), but now there is no other option except 1 for the Operator. The phone companies need to do their job and catch these harassing phone calls.

- Slim replies to please stopModern technology has given telescammers the tools to call you.
Since those telescammers are criminals, they ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.
Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The first thing to do is buy a call blocker device, service or app.
Then, use it correctly.
Google "call blocker" for more information.

If you cannot afford or use such a tool, then:
* Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service
* Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers! All that does is verify your phone number! And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete.
* If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scammers" (or similar). Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group. - Fed Up| 1 replyThey were wanting to "lower my student loan interest rate". Please! They have nothing to do with my student loans, unless they are the US Department of Education.

- BenThis is a scam, plain and simple. They called me from this number but hung up after one ring and called me back immediately after with a blocked number. I guess either their automated telescamming machine is screwed up or the sap on the other side used the wrong button at first. It's such an obvious scam anyway; please don't fall for this one!

- JustMe| 1 replyCalled my cell phone 3 times in a row. Seemed to ring forever, There's people who say I'm dumb but I'm not dumb enough to answer a phone number I don't know from an area code I've never seen before.
Why can't our dictator-wannabe's NSA go after these jerks since they monitor all calls? Do these looses pay the demoncrapict party protection money?- Caller: Scammer

- BarbaraI let the call go to voice mail, then deleted the "press one" option message they left. Never answer!!!!!!

- Mikey| 1 replyPeople, THIS IS A SCAM! Call blockers and such WILL NOT WORK! Well, mostly. They help a little, but hardly enough to justify even a few bucks in cost.
As so as they get a certain percentage of blocked calls, they just change their number.
Understand. IT IS A SCAM! They don't pay for the number in the first place, they even steal that. So you spending money to try to stop them is quite foolish.
IT WON'T WORK!!
The only real tactic, until the phone company gets off their behinds and makes a small change, is to WASTE THEIR TIME!!!! - veevcalled and called and called. i hope whoever is behind this scam dies in a fire
- PublicNotice replies to Mikey"Call blockers and such WILL NOT WORK!"
Actually that isn't entirely accurate. I block entire area codes and it seems to be working pretty well. If you live in California you probably don't get calls from people in say Kentucky or North Dakota.
Some phone applications allow you to block everyone and only allow who you want to call you. Works pretty well, unless you receive calls often from outside numbers. In some cases the application will allow block calls just to goto voice mail, if they have something important to say they can leave a message (telemarketers very rarely leave one, you would have to call them back and they don't want you knowing how to get a hold of them).
So .. blocking the calls does work if you have the right phone application or service. I enjoy the fact I am never disturbed any more by these annoying little people. I just check my call logs now and then to see how many calls have been blocked and smile. - MisizM replies to JustMeFinally someone with the guts to call it as it is! Looks like they make big $$ contributions to keep the socialists in power!
- RW replies to Fed UpThe best thing is not to answer the call. But if you do speak to someone ask them to please hold on for one moment because you are in bed with their mother and she is really wild and does all sorts of crazy acts.
- SickofItThese scammers need to die!!!! I say lets kill them!
Well until we get names and addresses, here is how i deal with them. I try to keep them on the line as long as possible. I tell them I have $4,500 in credit card debt. I give them a fake Visa number..it has to start with the number four. They may also ask for the last 4 digits of your social security...i just give them 4 random numbers. Sometimes they ask for the 800 number on the back. I give them the FBI hotline - 800-225-5324, or the suicide prevention hotline - 800-273-8255. They put me on hold for a bit and then come back mad or they just hang up. Since they are going to keep calling and harrasing me, I am just going to play a long and harass them back, and keep them from harassing someone else at least momentarily. I have had some on line for at least 15 minutes. lol It is kind of fun and is a stress reliever.- Call type: Telemarketer
- Tom replies to Scott stroleThe callers are the drug-addicted "card services" scammers, who call us, pretending to be associated with our credit card companies, in an attempt to fool us into giving them our credit card numbers, so they can rip us off. People that have given their card numbers to these junkies have suffered severe financial losses. Beware of these lowlifes, and warn others, before they are cheated!
- stopcallingTold me they were with the dallas morning news trying to get me back on the paper which I litterally just discontinued due to the fact that they were not delivering my paper and I was paying for it....
