Someone gave the name as Dennis Grey from the Department of Legal Affairs and important information about legal action being taken against me.  I called the number and a female answered who reluctantly gave her name as Julia Dean and hung up when I thanked her for giving me time to trace the call.

Got a call the other day from these scammers beware off this scam. I hope nobody's falls for this

Someone gave the name as Dennis Grey from the Department of Legal Affairs and important information about legal action being taken against me.

My guy said he was Dennis Quad same story the Treasury dept. is after me for a felony crime i am accused of. Wow fortunately my works for Treasury as a customs offical.

We received two phone calls yesterday morning, Thursday October 15, 2015, directing us to call 214-256-4459.   Both calls were recordings, in a thick, foreign-sounding voice.   The voice(s) claimed to be "a Representative of the Treasury Department".   The first call, at approximately 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., said legal charges and penalties were pending against us, and directed us to call 214-256-4459.   The second call came in at 10:50 a.m. and said there would be additional penalties for our "direct ignoring of a second notice".   The name given in the call sounded like "Dennis Quaide".   We did not respond to either call.   No third follow-up call has come in.   We do not know where the two calls originated from ...only that both calls directed us to respond to 214-256-4459.

Total scam.  Originates in either India or Pakistan.   Block and ignore.   DO NOT RETURN THE CALL!

IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.

"Dennis Gray" called around 12pm and left a message stating same exact script. Do not respond to this call-REJECT list for sure

Same thing - got a recorded message stating this was my last chance to avoid prosecution for a federal crime. Called the number back and got some Indian guy who I proceeded to cuss out. He then called me back several times from an 800-959-8281 number identified as "Taxes" and kept repeated obscenities over and over. I told him that he was being traced and recorded for the purposes of report and he abruptly hung up.
