    Not the intended recipient
I have received about 20 missed calls from this number on my workline over the past month until I finally answered today.  The caller was looking to speak with someone who is no longer with the company, and when I told her that I did not know the person and could not give out information on employees per company policy, she became very rude and began asking me personal questions and insisted to talk to a supervisor.  I refused to bother any supervisors with this because per company policy we cannot give out information on any current or past employees.  She became angry and hung up, stating that she would call back later when she could talk to someone else.  Unfortunately, there is no one else here who will talk to her.

Called looking for my sister who lives in another state and has never lived with me. Apparently, they subscribe to a list of "known associates" that are on public record and contact them in an attempt to reach the intended recipient. That should be illegal in my opinion. Asked that he not call here again.

Same as those above, asked for a person not working here for 3 years.  Wanted to speak to HR, we are a 3 person consulting firm no HR department, got  rather rude because we could not supply her with info.  Although I understand she is just doing her job, if I cannot assist- I REALLY CANNOT ASSIST!!!!  I do not know why she did not understand that.  She would not stop so I finally hung up on her.  We put this number on caller block so we can run a business with out her bothering us.

Obviously a debt collector asking about my neighbor.  I just knew that I would not give out any information on my neighbor, but really wonder how they got my name and phone number.

These guys are over the top. They called my PERSONAL cell phone looking for one of our employees. How the hell they got MY phone number I have no clue since it is NOT a company issued cell. I asked how they got the number and the guy said he didn't know. BS!  The following day they called my boss's cell phone and he gave them an earful!
Seems it would be illegal to call other people's cell phones looking for someone that is in no way related to the person they're looking for.
Whe I was talking with this debt collector I said 'this is obviously a debt collector so don't call this number or the office number again'. He said 'oh, no ma'am it's a personal matter'.  Debt collectors, what [***]!!

EXACT same thing.  If it's someone else's personal business why are you calling me with it!?  Should ABSOLUTELY be illegal.

I think they outsource their debt collection (probably a high commission only type of situation). I received a call from Deanna Stewart with "United Recovery Systems" calling from (214) 295-3625, but left the return call telephone number of (888) 593-8408 ext. 2244.

They're a bunch of evil, greedy [***] in my opinion...

This woman has called the office, the home, and family.  She is rude and threatening.  When asked her name, she provided it, when asked her company she said she was a private courier.  She refused to divulge information, but kept asking for my name, and then a supervisor.  When told that I would not divulge the information, she got nasty and hung then called back

    "Process server" extortion scam.

One of the tricks they use is to call your family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money.  They often call people that have never even been associated with you because they get erroneous information off of the internet.

They mention that they have received a Fax document, to create the sense of urgency and tell you that they are a “process server”. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (with a made up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer).  They threaten to serve you at home or at work.  They tell you that if they serve you at work they need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work.  They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID.  None of which is true.  Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them.  Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.  They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”.  Court documents are time sensitive and have to be served within a certain amount of time.  Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there is actually a lawsuit that has been filed against you.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

They called and left a threatening message. Then called my sister in law and left her the same type of message. I then called the person back and they said it was from a loan back in 2014. When I began asking question the guy became rude and loud. He gave me the references i supposedly gave on my application and not one of them have I ever used. He wouldn't send me any paper work. I asked why it wasn't on my credit report and he said he could put it on my credit report today, This is ovbviously a scam to get money.
