- Cynthia GlawsonI keep receiving phone calls from this number. A Nicky Johnson says she's a representative of Federal Housing and urban development. I qualify for a 27,000 dollar grant. I have not received any certified mail, or formal phone calls from this depth. Another thing, she is calling from Texas, I live in New Jersey. I was instructed to go to CVS to open an account with 300 dollars in cash. Then go to wallmart to recieve my grant Western Union.
Is this ligit ?- Caller: Federal U
- Roxsane| 2 repliesI actually went to the Walgreens and bought the card with $300. The crazy part is on the back of the MoneyPak card it tells you "not to give your number to anyone because it could be a scam". IT IS!!! The money was immediately taken from the card. Then you get a call stating that the money has been taken by MoneyPak until you can be verified for Western Union. Another phone call "Western Union has declined to wire that amount of $27,000 so we need your bank account information to wire directly to your bank account." US Housing and Urban Development....how stupid of me to believe this. I live in California and the calls are coming from Texas. You will almost never speak to the same person twice. As the scam progresses, the person you talk to changes.
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- I GIVE UP! replies to RoxsaneLet me see if I got this right? You READ the warning on the Money Pak (Green Dot) and you SENT THE MONEY! It says right there 'How to stop a scam'. There are TONS of warnings! as well as tips to protect yourself. THIS is why this scam works. Does anyone want to shoot me now? Or take me home & shoot me later? It's CASH folks! CASH! That's what these services are. CASH! Untraceable CASH! Someone help me now! I gotta go lie down!

What is so crazy about that warning? Can you take nothing seriously?
"how stupid of me to believe this. I live in California"
That may explain it all. All you are doing is reinforcing the idea that California is the "land of the fruits and nuts".
We cannot help those who are unwilling to help themselves.
