Yeah, got a call from these clowns. They didn't leave a message. Probably a scam.

They just called, listed at Tx FOP Found, 214-453-6782.  I answered immediately as I have an infant napping and didn't want the phone waking him up.  Person asked for my husband by name to which I replied "Who's this?" He responded, "oh, okay" and hung up.

They may be who they say they are, but need to research THEMSELVES on telephone etiquette.  I personally will not donate to an organization who hangs up on people or won't leave a message...what's up with that?  That's just wrong.

Cindy, instead of blasting people for calling your organization a sham and so on, you should spend your time finding out why your Caller ID reads "NBA Events" rather than "Fraternal Order of Police". In this case you should not be surprised that people are suspicious and have doubts about your organization.

Nice try..."Fraternal Order of Police Texas State Lodge" is not associated with the TX FOP Foundation.  All you did was see that Officer Mike Simmons is the treasurer for the legitimate "Fraternal Order of Police Texas State Lodge".  As Cindy suggested, I looked up the Texas Fraternal Oder of Police Foundation on the BBB...doesn't exist.  This is another scam and bogus info is being posted in order to give legitamacy to another sharlitan's scheme.

I got a call from 214-453-6782 and called ID said NBA Events. We just had two officers die in line of duty here in Houston and this scam 'fraternal order of police' organization calls. Scam because the money, if anyone is dumb enough to contribute/give; goes not towards fallen heros, it goes to damned administration fees. That really chaps my butt that these telemarketers pop up right and left then gone, and what money is donated don't go to the widows and familes of firefighters and police. If anyone who reads this wants to donate, do it LOCALLY like 100 Club of Houston or your city, where the money goes to familes in their time of need to help with house payments, funeral expenses, food on table now that dad, and/or husband, is gone. Don't give to these call centers, if you willing to do that then I have some rich Nigerian's who wish to share their millions with you. And the 'plant' who posted here as Cindy....how about pointing everyone here to a legitimate place where those who may wish to donate if these are real cops (they aren't) how about showing all administrative fees, DBA, and cash flow so if $1.00 is donated, 97 cents won't go to AIG executives salaries or those droids manning the phones. The bigger problem here is credibility. If this is the association in Bryan, TX, why the ID crisis? Every day, people get bombarded with phone calls from scammers, paypal, nigerians, bank account closed, whatever, not to mention robocalls. You can see how people would be skeptical on a caller whose ID shows up as Mark Cuban's NBA team, then the person immediately asks for credit card number, no wonder people hanging up, blocking that number and even not donating. It don't help a cause by pizzing off people calling wanting credit card numbers.

I ask who was calling and didn't get an answer.
Whoever was calling, hung up.

I don't know who these people are but when I called back, the phone number belonged to a local family in San Antonio. They may be legit but using the computer system to go through a private listing is not.

This is a scam, same people called me a month ago and caller id showed Texas DPS, but the rep gave the same intro 'don't worry you aren't in trouble'...what? Or they have also used 'don't worry your loved ones are not hurt'...not kidding that's what they say.

I told him never to call me again, as usual, and he kept talking while I was talking. I had to hang up on him.

I too have received SEVERAL calls from this supposed organization.  I realize there is a  legitimate Fraternize Order of Police Officers. HOWEVER, if anyone can tell me this...if this is legitimate, then why constantly change what comes up on the Caller ID.  It is called spoofing, and it is illegal.  Why would the FOP need to advertise itself as NBA Events, which would imply some sort of affiliation of the National Basketball Association

I have asked REPEATEDLY, not to be contacted...they just contact me from a different number.  Sorry, I am NOT convinced and I for one will continue to report, what I consider, to be nothing more than a SCAM so that other people out there might get more info.

they are calling from the Texas FOP...because their organization is so large they have multiple lines...hence the different ID's.  They are totally legit.  Ask if you can donate some other way besides over the phone if you are weary!!

Called the # back & got the Texas Fraternal Order of Police fund raising line.  Asked them to put me on their do not call list.

Yes this is a scam. I worked for a company like this years ago (for only 3 days) and we sold ticket to a concert to be held in Dallas,TX to help Firefighters in TX. The Place where the concert was to be held only held   2000 - 3000 people. Myself being a volenteer firefighter did some looking into this and found out the company that I was working for paid the Firefighter's asso. $2000 to use it's name and the rest of the money went to the company making these calls. The sad part of the is they sell tickets for this concert for about 10 months and the tickets you receive are small and very light weight paper with ink that come off the paper in a very short amount of time so there will be a good chanse you will forget what it was for. The other sad part is they over sell this concert big time. As I stated the place where the concert was preformed held 2000-3000 people this company I worked for sold that many per week time say about 40 weeks that adds up to 80,000 tickets sold for a room that held up to 3000 yes they are scum bags and the management could have cared less they only wanted your money and a lot of it the tickets sold for $15.00 each, you do the math over a million dollars they claim is helping the Police or  Fire Dept. when the truth is they only gave them a little to use there name. IF YOU WISH TO HELP YOUR POLICE OR FIRE DEPT. CALL THE ON THE NON EMERGENCEY PHONE LINE AND THEY WILL INFORM YOU HOW TO DO THAT. The home page of the web site "Brandon" references is titled "El Paso Federal Officers Regional Lodge #82".

Under the "Telemarketing" page is stated "The El Paso Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), Lodge 82 conducts telemarketing campaigns in the city....El Paso residents may also receive calls from the Texas State Fraternal Order of Police; both entities conduct telemarketing activities in the El Paso area".

What does this have to do with the rest of Texas? Looks like they decided to extend their calling area! Robocallers extraordinaire!

Conclusion...Bogus organizations also have web sites!

Go to the Texas FOP web site, Contact Us, www.texasfop.org -- enter your first name & phone #, and put a comment that requests them to STOP CALLING!

Have received calls with same caller ID from 940-295-1889 & 281-763-7522.

The Texas FOP does not care about your complaints. All we want is your money.
