almost fell for it. I have a blind aunt named Michelle. >.<

Got a text message that says "Jennifer said to send this to you http://bit.ly/TM0rZi"

got the same on today didn't open it.

Got a message at 10:45 last night Jen said to send this to you http://bit.ly/SPu651
Did not open it, sure it is some kind of virus, don't people have better things to do with their time!

I suppose now I need to apologize to my husband for not believing he did not know a Jen and to thank him for telling me the truth...it caused a huge misunderstanding!

Spam text messages

Got text message "Lisa said to send this to you http://bit.ly/U2zNz4".  I have a sister name Lisa, so I was thinking one of my cousin sent it to me until I googled the area code.  Damn these people that have nothing else better to do on a Saturday afternoon!!

I received a text from this number say Melissa wanted me to see this message.  I did some searching on Google and found this:  Bitly (formerly Bit.ly) is a URL shortening and bookmarking service owned by Bitly , Inc., a Betaworks company. The current CEO is Peter Stern ... hope this helps some folks.

bit.ly is a legitimate service that encodes URL's in an abbreviated format.  Essentially it is a short nickname for  another URL (website).  I also received this text (from Jennifer) and decided to open it knowing I have pretty good security and confidence I can get myself out of any trouble.  

The bit.ly link in my message took me to a website that said my cell phone carrier had selected me to win a free iPad 3.  The actual link associated with the bit.ly URL was http://apple.com.llp1.net/?336v3.  Note how this URL tries to look like "apple.com" but is really a subnet of llp1.net.  This domain was only recently created (in Sept, 2012) which further suggests it could be fraudulent.

This looks like a phishing attack but could possibly contain some type of virus attack.  I would discard this message and absolutely avoid this site!

I got a text that said Susan said to send this to you and when i looked up the url it was porn. Who the hell sends porn via text?
