I got a call from this same number 214-586-0999 at 2:14am... WTF

I thought it wasa  caollection too, but at 2am this morning?  Likely not... Very odd.

I have actually talked to a person who called me with this number.  She is from Ghana and I met her on Blackplanet which is a website that's sort of like my space.  The moment I logged on to my account she sent me an instant message and I began talking to her on yahoo messenger.  Basically she said shes looking for a husband and she uses the local cafe to go online.  I have even seen her live on web cam so i began to believe that it wasn't a scam.  But what caught my eye is how quickly she said that she loved me and wanted to marry me.  But soon after she started asking for money.  This is all in the span of 1 week!!!  So i guess that is the number they use to call people in the states for various scams or something.  I even asked her about certain other times when I met women from Nigeria and they turned out to scammers and she said they were all thieves and they are called 419 girls. Now i'm sure that most of the guys who read this aint stupid enough to go and send women in foreign countries money after just meeting them online right?  Simply keep it pimpin!!!  But truthfully there are women who sincerely are looking for someone in foreign countries.  The trick to determine if they are fake is if they ask for money too quickly.  I'm not sure about other peoples experience with this number but in this case it was most certainly used for a scam.

People, i just googled this number just to see who may have called me. However, if i don't recognize a number, I do not return the call. I delete it. There is no need to return any call that you do not recognize. If the call is legit, they will call back.

I got a call from this number last night around midnight (eastern time), and when I called back I went through the same "please wait and we'll connect your call" followed by music before I hung up.

I guess an incoming international call for some reason displays this number on the cell phone. In my case its cingular service. only after  listening to the voicemail did i realize that its my dad calling from india.

Someone just called me on this number and said i had won a prize and he had told me my address and full name - from a form i filled out at the southern womens show last year and even described my maillng label that i used he claimed i won 50,00 dollars and then i hung up the phone on him- This is really weird- British accent he said he was calling from the Law offices of Goldstein and they had a check at their office they were ready to mail to me- I looked up area code 214 on google and it says it is a texas area code  What do i do?

Got a call from this number - stated I had won a trip if I met certain conditions (then proceeded to list conditions).  Then said to press '1' if I met the conditions.  I hung up on them - sounded too much like a phishing scam.  If I had the name of the company, I would file a FCC complaint against them since I am on the National "Do Not Call" registry!!  I would love to force someone to send me a check for calling me!

What the hell is this? I'm glad I didn't answer this weird phone call. Same thing I called it back and some house music just kept playing.

I just received a call on my Cingular/AT&T cell phone from 214-586-0999.  The message said [paraphrased] "We are giving away a free 4 day trip for residents in Austin, TX to Miami, Las Vegas (and a couple other cities that I don't remember).  The requirements are that your are married or have a live-in partner, are between the ages of 25-72 and have a combined income of $40k per year.  If interested, press 1. To be taken off our list, press 8."

I pressed 8 and the call just dropped.  I knew the area code was a Dallas number so I answered the call because I know some folks in Dallas.  I am reporting the number to the FTC and have since added my cell phone to the Do Not Call registry

Got lots of call from this number.  Its a telemarketer from outside of the USA. Since I subscribed to them, they have been calling me and calling me and it is really irritating.  They want me to give them more numbers and I already told them I don't have other numbers.  Why would I refer them when they are already harrasing me for it with their constant calls.  And it doesnt matter where I am and what time of the day it is... they call me in the office... when I'm its 12MN or 1AM... They have a different times than we have.

i got a call from this number earkier today, no message was left.  I called back and listened to that bad music for almost 20 minutes.  I just hung up, and haven't recieved another call from them.

The number is a call transfer station for calls originating out of the country.  It could be anyone calling you. My call was from a friend on vacation in Mexico, using his California cell phone.

This number called my CELL phone which indirectly costs money to receive calls. The call was a recording advertising some scam.

So now scammers are costing me money AND I have to tolerate their annoyance?!

Unlike most of these comments, my husband calls me from his 2nd line at work, and this number appears, although when I call it back, I do get the automated message saying, "Please hold while your party is reached" followed by endless horrible late 90's techno music.  The difference is, every time they make an outgoing call from their second line, this number appears. I personally think this number has something to do with the warrant-less wiretapping the Bush administration has been doing for the past 4 years. What ever it is, it's fishy...

I had a miss call from same phone # on May 4/07 at 8:39pm and it said to wait to be conected, I try to see from which Co, it was so I waited for almost 13 minutes, but still no one answered.

I got a few calls from this number yesterday morning and again this morning at 12:36 AM !! I tried calling them back a few minutes back and that techno music that you all refer to started.

This is outrageous. There is 5 pages of complaints in this webpage. I also registered a complaint with the FCC's Do Not Call list. I hope someone is looking into that. I am also planning to write to the Attorney general so that he can ensure someone is looking into this.
