    Party claimed to be from the IRS and stated we owed $4940.  When stated to them that this was a scam they persisted and stated that they had sent several letters that 'bounced' and if we did not pay the would issue a warrent and someone would be there within 45 minutes to arrest us.  Needless to say they got no information and no money.

    Be careful! It's best just not to answer. If you argue, they are likely to call local police in your area and have you "swatted"!

    They just left a pre-recorded message saying that it was my final notice and the IRS would be filing a lawsuit. Have not been contacted previously.

    I've had dealings with the IRS and they are not going to call you if they were going to take you to court.

    You would receive a letter stating how much you owe, and why you owe the amount, and then if you couldn't pay the amount in full, they would set up a payment plan.
