this guy called me and the orignal number came through as vitelity, and they introduced themselves as a law firm, then the foreign sounding person on the other line gave me to a steve morgan, paralegal and said that their was a lawsuit against my social, and that he was having me arrested. He had my personal information as well. when confronted as a scam, and my husband asking for the legal paperwork and me telling him that he is full of [***] due to there is no arrest for debt in this country and the fact that when i called back he said that he would have to call me back (this was the foreign sounding dude) and the fact that they are hiding their identity, he hung up on  me. the address that they gave is 5950 Cherry lane #50 Dallas, Tx and the name being davenport law firm. I suppose that if I google the address it will come back to a non existant area.....will let you know

I got a call 2 hours ago from this same number. They were threatening to throw me in jail if I didn't pay them over $1000.00 on some website. These people are whacked out of there mind!!! Do they think this will really work when people are having a hard time finding work and supporting their families right now. Plus it is the holidays! Their accent was so thick I could hardly understand them. I bet they are doing this from a foreign country. They are the ones who should land in jail!!!

I got this phone call from this same number saying that I owed them 500.00 and it was going to cost me 8,000 in attorney fees to get this taken care of.  They also said it was the same lawfirm but it was John Davenport and the stupid [***] told me to stop crying and pay up and I told her I used to be a debt collector with PRA and I knew my FDCPA laws and she pretty much told me I was a liar and said I had this payday loan out in July when I didn't.  Then told me she was was filing the paperwork my the warrant of my arrest and I was going to be arrested in the morning.  I was so upset I called in to work thinking my identity may be stolen b/c they knew my information so now I am going to have to change all my banking information and phone numbers tomorrow!  People are AWFUL!

THIS IS AN EXTORTION SCAM. Scammers use bought/hacked/phished loan application data to extort payments for fictitious debts from victims and victims' families and friends.

i called them back this am, along with my husband they refused to give their names even when asked to speak with steven morgan, then" called me a [***], and told me never to call again", when i redialed again,
he said that the person speaking was steven morgan, but still had accent. They answer the phone law office, and when i asked who was suing me, he replied, "I am suing you."I did look up the address that they gave my husband today and they left off the #350, but there is a law firm there, however, they are on a similar sounding street name and not the one they gave,  and  they have a different number and one thing about law firms, is that they do not misrepresent themselves for starters, answer the phone professionally and not call clients names even if they are for the other side. I believe that they are trying to collect for a payday loan that i did not take out, but they will not say who they are working for and use a number that is voip and used to belong to an autism organization.

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:

I too got a call from " Andy Parker"---a nice American name lol from a stupid Indian accent man. i also got a call last week from a 785-371-3081 and from a "James Parker" lol (another stupid Indian accent man). I told them both that i reported them to the FTC and to my Attorney Generals office. James called me a MotherFu**er. Real professional for a "attorneys office". We as Americans are not that stupid. Stand up for your rights and notify the proper authorities. Dont let these people scare you. I told Andy if he wanted to come to my house---ill have my friends Smith and Wesson there to watch by back-----his response to me was--"we will arrest them too". What a dumbass!!!

This just happened to me, the guy (Heavy middle Eastern accent -named Justin Murphy - Flag number one) called my place of work (federal installation flag number two), and tried to get money out of me for a cash advance back in Aug. which I didn't do (flag number 3), and he wanted to pay it back with a Green Dot Money Pack.  Needless to say I didn't do it, but it frightened me.  I have reported it to the police.... Please catch these people, and stop them.

I received a call from a Alex 3 times on my personal phone and 4 times at my workplace. Im getting really tired of these calls. Someone has all of my information(i am a victim of identity theft) and this same thing happened to me in September and now here we go again a few months later. Their going to tell me that I took out a payday loan online and never paid it back because they want my money. Police reports have been made and I even have some of these calls recorded. DO NOT send them any money! Tell them when you answer that the call is being recorded and continue to hang up on them. Eventually it will stop. Also tell them that you have notified the police and filed a report with them. This should scare them a little. They are nothing but SCAM artists and its really getting old!
