They said they were calling from the US Treasury Dept in Washington DC and that I had been selected randomly to receive a grant of $7000.  The individual was clearly from overseas, and this is a total scam.

Called saying he was with the US government, really hard to understand through heavy accent. said I was approved for a large grant and went on to explain why. Couldn't understand what he was saying and when I said I wasn't interested he loudly asked me "WHAT?!" and hung up. Real nice guys.

Some one must have gotten my number and sold it to scammers. I got a call from 202-381-2625 (Washington DC) yesterday saying they were from the U.S. government claiming I had been selected to receive $9,000. I could barely understand her threw the accent. Got another one today (215) 163-1236

This is the 4th call I have received like this. Both times they said I won a $10,000 grant. The second time they called I told them I looked up their numbers yesterday and I knew it was a scam and to stop calling me. They tried to say it wasn't a scam and I hung up. Its getting ridiculous. They call 6-7 times a day and usually hang up when I answer.

Just got a call from 215-163-1236. Person with what sounded to be an Indian accent said I had been selected to receive a $9,000.00 government grant that I could use for education, home improvement, etc. He asked if I wanted the money placed in an account or credit card. I told him a credit card. He then asked for my card number. When I laughed and told him this was a fraud he became very defensive. I told him he should go to prison and hung up.

Within a minite or so same number called back and another guy with accent; not as thick, said something about past healthcare and having past surgery and compensation.  Told him to  ot call back and lose my number.

I now answer these types of scammers/liars as though I'm a pizza delivery company - works everytime!  And they DO stop calling!  (When the guy kept talking about the grant, I kept asking for his order!!!)

A guy with an indian accent has repeatedly called my father and told him he was with MS Tech Support.  I finally told him to have him call me.  I quizzed him about why he needed access to the computer and he said that someone from overseas was trying to hack into the computer.  I asked for his name and number and he hung up.  This guy has repeatedly been called my father (84 yrs old) and I have intercepted a couple of calls and told him not to call anymore but he does repeatedly.

Oh yes -  we started getting the "you have $9,000 in grant money" calls from the same guy at the same number.

Glad you are protecting your dad, and recognized the call as a scam.
You might consider obtaining a call blocking app, device or service for his phone.
