Obvious scammer from the start. If you're not a computer pro then just tell them you know they're scamming and hang up. He has you get on the computer and pull up your event viewer which will show you failed computer operations numbering in the thousands. Explains how the computer has been corrupted and needs to be fixed lol. Tells you to use the Windows button+R to pull up the run command. Have you type in www.teamviewer.com. I wasn't willing to roleplay beyond that point cause it would involve the installation and activation of a remote host. He explained that they have alot of people to help and it's the quickest way to get my poor computer fixed. If I had finished my black computer that doesn't have access to my router settings I could have collected information about his IP and DNS he was coming from. One day they'll call the wrong person and they'll get  played.

I received the same scam today, foreign accent saying my MS-updates failed (I know they did not).  I hung up on him and redialed the number.  The answering machine said it was the Wal-Mart voucher hotline.  If they call again, I will hack them back.

I just had a spam call from 215-220-2321. It was one of those Hindi call centers using a spoofed #. I played the dumb old man and let them spend minutes walking me through looking at my event log to see all the thousands of error messages that was causing my windows computer to send out errors. While I was leading this dude on, I quickly pulled up a list of Hindi curse words:

    http://www.youswear.com/index.asp?language=Hindi#.UukiFhBdVhk

I’m sure he thought he had a live one with me. Just as he was trying to get me to bring up Teamviewer so he could “help” me fix things, I started rattling off down the list of words above. He got very tripped up, and finally let fly a whole barrage of cursing, but under his breath so his bosses didn’t overhear him! :) He sounded torked!

I sure do love Asterisk+FreePBX’s blacklisting capability, but every now and then, a new one comes through. This time I couldn’t resist seeing where it would go. :)

They called me tonight and the caller ID said "School District". I knew this was wrong because the area code did not match mine. I could hardly understand the person on the phone and I asked them to repeat who was calling.  I told him I could not understand him again and he hung up. We'll see if they call again.

These guys are particularly insidious as they try to trick the target (mark) into launch Teamviewer. Teamviewer is a remote control service like Logmein.com.  They can then take over the computer and then download and run some hack tools that will reveal passwords, etc., for all sorts of things (like you bank for instance).  They do this under the guise of needing to remote in to help you get your errors corrected. It is criminal for sure!

I just received the same Microsoft software scam phone call from the same number. I just read about the scam in my local newspaper. I told them that I had not called them. Then asked the guy with the accent if he was calling to get my serial number. He was silent. He then said he was calling to help me update software. I replied "really"!  He then hung up on me. Scammers!

We had 13 back-to-back calls from these sand-maggots today.

After the third call, I released a barrage of profanity that would make a sailor blush. The jerk called back every 6 minutes, calling me a "bloody [***]", a "filthy [***]" and a "diseased [***] [***]". I had my son run next door and get my neighbor, who happens to be a female county sheriff. The next call that came through, I put on speaker and let her hear. I hung up, and when the next call came through, I let Cinda handle it.

She was able to convince him that we knew exactly where he was calling from, and that she would be calling the Indian Consulate in Washington and then the American Embassy in India. I think she had him pissing camel pee!

No more calls this evening..............we shall see what happens tomorrow!

I've gotten two calls from this number in two days, so answered this time.  Caller I.d. Says "School District". The caller has a very heavy accent and says something about being in Philadelphia. It was a spam call so I told him I wasn't interested and hung up before he could make his pitch.

Caller with thick Indian accent stated he was from Microsoft and there was an update that was not reaching our operating system. Luckily for him, we're all Apple. I immediately hung up. I later read that they will have you bring up TeamViewer, which is a legit app and manipulate you into an amount on PayPal, if you do not, they will start deleting files and uninstall your ethernet/wireless adapter driver so you are unable to connect. Just hang up.

Get caller ID.  If you don't recognize number, just don't answer.  I let them all go to voice mail on speaker and only pick up if I know who it is.
    School district called, didn't answer!!

We've had this helpful tech from "microsoft" , in India based on the accent, call us 7 times so far today. The first time i said nothing and hung up, then quickly blocked 1-215-220-2321. We get a quick ring before the block cuts the call off each time. Wish we didn't have to hear anything. The latest call was after 10pm. We may have to turn our home phones completely off tonight to get any sleep.

Have been on the "National Do Not Call" list from the beginning. It would appear that it like most "Government " run programs does not work.
I have written 342 letters to the FCC reporting these abuses. I get a very nice letter saying they are sorry and are looking into ALL complaints.
This caller was listed as the "School District". First, no kids in school. Second, Wrong area code. Third, Called number back and wouldn't even ring.

Apparently these scammers change their caller ID frequently.  Called as "School District" twice in two hours today.
Calling from a non-local area code.  I did not pick up--but did block.

I received a call from this number today. Caller ID showed the number and it just read "WIRELESS CALLER" I answered on a whim. It was a woman with a heavy accent. She DID know my name and then said, "We're contacting you about your computer."

"What about my computer?" I said sounding as sarcastic and disbelieving as possible.

My tone must have worked because she hung up.

I hope she calls back because I'm going to answer and blow a whistle into the receiver.
