Been calling and even though on the phone long enough to get voice mail, it will stay on for up to 10 seconds with out anything being said. IF it's important enough for you to be calling then you could at least leave a message. I'm guessing it's just a new number calling with the same old bull crap from companies that refuse to believe they are actually calling the wrong number! I have even provided a copy of my phone bill to show that the number belonged to me and NOT to the person they keep calling for but the calls do not stop.

File a complaint with the consumer financial protection bureau. They will contact the company for an explanation of why they are failing to id themselves through caller id or verbally. They are a collection agency and not id ing themselves is illegal. the calls are harassment.

I called this phone # back and got a person on the line- They are a collection agency out of Philadelphia. This is the 4th agency I have spoken to in the last 3 weeks looking for someone who does not now , nor has ever lived here. I have had the same address and phone # for 27 years! I told them if ANYONE from their agency calls me again I will report them to the FCC and sue them for harassment and win because that is the law.

You cannot get those debt collectors to stop calling.  What happens is that you forcefully explain that you do not now or ever know the person they are trying to collect a debt from!  Generally speaking they probably don't believe you but if you keep trying to convince them they eventually tend to agree and the calls from that source stop.  Here's the problem. The bad debt gets sold from one collection co to another, over and over.  Every time that debt gets sold the entire collection file that now has your contact info stays with the file and so the calls just start over again from a different debt collector.  I have been dealing with this situation for over 10-12 yrs and it just continues so I do not pick up any call number that I don't know.  Then I use call block and call the number back.  Most time with the debt collectors the call does not go through or you may get recording that VM is full etc.  Once you do that then you know the caller number is a collection co or other outfit looking to sell or ask for donations!

Keeps calling, leaves no message. If this is a collection agency, I don't and have ever owed money to anyone. I will not answer and have to argue I am not the person they are looking for.. If this another type of call and it's important, then leave a message!

If you look up a law firm that specializes in FDCPA violations you can get the phone calls to stop and you can also get a settlement in the process. Further, if the company actually owns the dead it will have to be canceled

If you send them a cease and desist calling then they must stop.  No attorney necessary.  In order to get a settlement, you must sue them.  It is best to lay the groundwork first so that you have a better case.

Not sure what the "dead" have to do with anything, but the debt won't be canceled if you sue them.  They will simply stop collecting on it.  Doesn't mean that someone else can't try.
