ugggg! whats the point to adding your cell number to the no call list?  215-393-1900 called me EARLY in the morning and no one responded...

Caller ID said “Movers Specialty Service” In Pennsylvania, but a Google search of the phone number says “Thin Air Solutions”—also in Pennsylvania—also owns this number. Both are legit, long-time established businesses with good reputations. It’s most likely just a wrong number dialed. Nothing shady. And since one business associated with the number is a moving business that does nationwide moves, it’s not exactly suspicious that they called a number with a Seattle area code. Even if it was a wrong number.

I feel obligated to respond to comments I see about being on the national “Do Not Call” registry. The DNC list doesn’t prevent you from ever getting a call from a person or business you don’t know, including wrong numbers. That’s not its purpose or function.

 And it doesn’t (can’t) prevent scammers from calling and trying to, well… scam you. Those guys don’t care about the DNC registry or consequences. They don’t have to. They’re criminals. The DNC list is intended to prevent unsolicited sales or other & marketing from (legit, though maybe less-than ethical) businesses, and give parameters for when it IS ok for them to call you—like if you have an existing business relationship with them or have some biz with them in the previous 90 date or so. And it gives a small bit of recourse—like fines for repeat offenders—if a legit biz violates that, especially repeatedly. That’s about it.
Don’t take my word for it though. Go look at the info on FTC.gov. That should tell you all you need to know.
