- Bryan ClineReceived a call from this number. Caller ID listed it as "Diamond, Auto" but the call was for "Diamond Duct" cleaning. PA HIC (hicsearch.attornegeneral.gov/default.aspx) information places this business, license #PA092199, in Pittsburgh, PA and Lindenhurst, NY. (Note the business was registered on 5/25/2012.) The phone number listed on the HIC Web page for this company is 631--662-9948, which is somewhere around Eastern Long Island, NY (Babylon, Brentwood, Brookhaven). The caller solicited for a chimney sweeping service, but the PA HIC Web site only lists them for central air duct cleaning and dryer vent cleaning. I could not find a listing for Diamond Duct, Lindenhurst, NY at www.yellowpages.com. The Web site for the Village of Lindenhurst did not support online license lookup. (Apparently all licenses are issued at the local rather than state level.) Note caller left a callback number of 1-800-572-7090, which is apparently out of NYC. A lookup on the NYC Web site for licensing shows no listing for Diamond Duct.

- in MA replies to wondering tooThe guys showed up and seemed suspicious, from Diamond. He "inspected" the home and suddenly said that he forgot his "nylon" brush and hastily left. Please reply if anyone of you had the same experience. Call came on 11/27 and the guy arrived home on 12/1. They also quoted $45

Lindenhurst, NY 11757 - wondering too replies to wondering too| 2 repliesI also got a call. $45 for a cleaning, "Introductory special". When they came, they said the flue was completely deteriorated and needed to be replaced,,, and lots of discounts, including not charging the sales tax.... I plan to get an independent evaluation of the flue. I could not find the business listed anywhere except for their own website.
- wondering three replies to wondering too| 1 replyDiamond Duct: I tracked their number to a "magic jack" I called them on (508) 217-1954; and they answered and were again offering a $45 special. I talked to a bunch of folks, and it seems that there's a chimney sweep "scam" going around this time of the season. So be aware. The truck which showed up at my home in MA had a New York registration plate. I am planning on reporting this to the local police just in case.
- Jim replies to wondering threeThey where at my father in laws house who is 94 hard of hearing doesn't even own the house and they gave him a great deal for 3700.00 to line the chimney replace the duct work jack hammer this cement this. They prey on the elderly. they have no idea what they are doing and now what they left behind is about another 1500.00 to correct the crap job they did. It is a good thing I had to go by the house because they left the cellar doors all unlocked. Looked like they may have been planning a late night return. These scum come to your home, call 911.
- rl-cambridgeWe've gotten unsolicited calls from Diamond Duct "chimney cleaning" company; they offered a $45 deal on cleaning, plus an estimate for work. They asked some seemingly logical questions about the state of our chimney. We set up a time for them to come give us an estimate for possible repair, but they didn't show up in time. On the phone, various people I've spoken with have what i'd call "non-professional demeanor." I don't know if it's a scam or not but am worried about this. They implied they were a local company (when apparently they're not), and continually insisted they were "bonded" and insured and completely above board. This was odd in light of the fact that, at the time, I had no reason to suspect they were otherwise. weird...

- Michael| 1 replyAm home visiting my 70 year old parents. Dad had casually announced he was having the chimney cleaned and I thought nothing of it. Then I saw this shiny van pull up, and he comes back and says they told him it needs a liner (which it probably does) and that they were going to charge him 3500 and they needed a deposit to "buy supplies". At first they asked for the deposit in cash but he gave them a check.
So I said "Dad, how did you hear about this company?"
"Oh, they called me."
DING DING WARNING WARNING - I got nervous and started to Google and found this site.
I then called the police department to ask if they had any reports of elderly scams of chimney sweeping in the area. They hadn't heard of any but when the officer heard the details he suggested my dad stop payment and tell those guys we weren't interested.
Also talked with the Attorney General's Office (we're in MA) and the Secretary of State. Atty General had no complains, Sec of STate said the company was registered in New York and was doing business in MA as an out of state company.
So I called the company posing as a new client and asked some questions. The woman was very eager to sign me up. She was professional until I started asking more questions and then she started talking very fast and offering a free estimate. I asked her where their office was located and told "10 Milk St, Suite 1055 in Boston" - the same address on the invoice.
So I Googled that address and found other companies with that same suite. It sounded like a mail drop - have a fancy Boston address but there's no one located there. So I found the real estate company handling that building and asked them about their tennant list. I eventually spoke to a gentleman who assured me that Diamond Duct was not a tennant.
I called New York BBB and they found a company called All American Chimney and Duct Cleaning that USED be at the same address but was now showing as not in business. That company had 3 complaints against it.
Long story short it kept feeling shadier and shadier. My dad stopped payment on the check then called the 800 number to cancel. With only a toll free number and no real address, I was very skeptical.
I just joined Angie's list and he was looking around for a local chimney service.- Caller: Diamond Duct

- codfishNot from 215-781-1920, but from 508-217-1954. Also, the number 978-664-5909 was used to make the initial call. When I tried to return the call, I got a recording that the number was out of service. I'm assuming the
phone number, 978-664-5909, is from a stolen or defunct cellphone. Also, checked for a listing in Boston as I was told Milk Street was their business address. I did not find a listing for DIAMOND DUCT at that address. In fact, the company listed doing similar business is no longer in operation according to the Better Business Bureau. The phone number, 508-217-1954, is a Magic Jack Number as I left a voice message and was given that information before so doing. In conclusion, BEWARE, and do not set an appointment to see these people.- Caller: Diamond Duct

- Barbie replies to wondering tooWe found the same nos used and Bonnie doing all the talking. it all sounded fishy when they asked for a large deposit check.. Stupidly I gave them one and had to be at my bank at 7am the next day to cancel that check and set up new accounts.
Don't go near these people. I have no trust in them. They are not listed in the BBB. There are so many complaints against him. If they call, just hang up. - Wondering 4I just wanted to say thank you to all of you that took the time to post your experience with this company. I have been receiving calls from them and almost made an appointment to have my chimney swept, for a "great deal". I just had a gut feeling that something was fishy and when I went online to look at the company website the information there wasn't quite adding up with what "Louise" was telling me on the phone. The more I looked into it the shadier it seemed and then I came across this post with all of your experiences which sealed the deal for me! NO GO! Its scary, you really have to watch out for yourself these days or you can easily be taken advantage of! Thanks again, so much!

- RJMI received a call from 978-664-5909 no one was on the line. 15min later they called back and it was "Jen." She said they offered gas heat flu cleaning and co2 testing for $45. I asked about brick chimney cleaning she put me on hold and said that service is $120 or $110 if I buy tomorrow (?)
She gave the following web site http://diamondductusa.com/ there is no address for this company, no listing of management and no BB rating. My suggestion based on this and other postings is beware of this company.- Caller: diamond duct usa
