This is a scam. These people are calling saying that they can negotiate better interest rates for your credit card balances and you do not need to close your account for them to do so.  They then ask for your account number.  Once you give up this number there is no telling what damage they can do.  They start off sounding very informative and helpful BUT BEWARE.  I just finished talking to someone from this number and when they asked for my account information I told him he was out of his mind. All he said was No.  They never even told me what their company name was.

Who is the company that uses this number? What type of business are they in?

I don't understand how the F* AT&T or whatever phone company it is can allow a phone number with the prefix of "000" to be allowed to work. I think whoever gets a call from this number should call their phone company and complain like crazy. Even call the Public Utilities Commission of their state. For Ohio that would be the PUCO. I will and post back later.

This is a scam. Use other numbers also.  What good is the do not call list if these companies are not punished for continuing to call people on the list. They need to be stopped. I have filed several complaints with the do not call list .

I too get these phone calls and it is supposedly a company called Card Services.  Since they use "spoof" phone numbers I would assume they are a scam.  Everytime I mention removing my number or tell them that I am on the do not call list I am rudely hung up on.  This last call had a person with an accent that sounded like they were from India.  The address she gave me for the company appears to be non-existant.

Same company that's used other phone numbers in the past.

Same dumb woman acting like she's calling from your credit card company 'cardholder services' trying to get you to stay on the line to lower your interest rate and payment.

They are obviously more than 1 step ahead of the law and aren't close to being shut down.  They probably pay off any enforcement officers or politicians with their ill gotten cash.

Do not fall for calls from this number that says they can lower your interest rate.  I received this call and since I work in fraud, I thought I would see how far this call went.  1st they asked to verify the last 4 numbers of my SSN.  I told them if they had the 1st part of my SSN, they should also know the last 4 digits. She stuttered at that, but said okay and she went on with her spiel.  She told me that they represented Chase, Capital One, and several others and that they could lower my interest rate.  She wanted to know if there was one I wanted to lower.  I said yes, my Chase card.  She asked for my credit card number.  I gave her the number of a card I knew had been cancelled by Chase because somebody had gotten a hold of my number.  She told me to hold on while she verified that card number.  While I was on hold, I called Chase's 800 number on my cell phone.  I told them what was going on and while I was on the phone, they checked that old card number and said yes, somebody minutes ago tried to use that card for an online purchase and they denied the transaction.  The person from card services came back on the phone and said they can't do business with me because my card was at my limit and what they could do for me wouldn't work.  What a scam. When they call you, they already have the first part of your SSN and need the last 4 digits.  They can get that information off of the internet.  When you give them your credit card number, you are opening it up so that when you are on hold they are already trying to charge things to that card. PLEASE IF THEY CALL YOU, HANG UP.

Just got a call from them.  "Press '9' to speak to a representative about lowering your interest rate."  When I did, I got a woman who asked if I was interested in lowering my rate.  I immediately asked her what company she was with, and she hung up!

I received a call from them.  I pressed 1 to talk with a liver person named "Tiffany".  When I asked to be taken off their calling list, she hung up on me.

Next time, I think I will go along with the scam and use the name, Mrs. N.O. Goode, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue...

    or

    perhaps a loud police whistle?

This is the number for the company "Card Member Services". They want you to pay to have them get you lower rates on your current cards. When you ask to be removed or you press "9" and ask what the company name is they hang up on you. Today I pressed 9 and asked them about their services, then told them that they keep calling and I keep requesting to be removed. The man said "well you know why? When you lie and bullsh!t, no one is going to help you". This is after many times of my trying to be upfront.
