    When they call again demand full, verifiable written proof be delivered to you by mail. Not e-mail or fax.  If they refuse they're in violation of federal law and have proven themselves to be bogus collectors or 3rd party collectors engaged in illegal tactics.
    Learn your rights under the FDCPA. It's easy, just google it.
    Live Well.

    I just received the same call saying I had 4 hours to call back concerning a complaint filed against me and something about a restraining order or they were calling my employer.  I did not call them back as I have gotten some other calls from a different number stating the same.  I feel this is a scam I wish something could be done to stop these type of calls as they are very upsetting, if there is could someone please let me know how.

    I also get these phone calls and tell them I am filing a complaint with the federal trade commission, which I do complete on their website. It only takes a few minutes of your time. I have to say this is the first time they were not from a foreign country, so they might be easier for the FTC to track if they are in the states. The guy who called me was not professional sounding, very disorganized, etc. I told him never to call me againg and that I would let the FTC know their number and the threats.

    I have received several calls from numbers similar to this, saying the same thing. I got a call from this number today and was able to track down that they are scamming people because I called the company they claimed they were collecting for and was told they don't use lawyers.

    This is a scam I just received the same call and they left a recorded message on my voicemail which also sends a text version. I called the number back says the voicemail is full and to press 5 to leave a callback number waiting for someone to call back so I can BLAST them with my own information on how they are in violation of several FTC codes. Report them to your local attorney general, the FTC and local police with as much information as you can find on them AND let them know you are doing so.

    I have received a total of 15 calls from this LRS LItigation using different telephone numbers.  I have reported this to the FCC and informed the only person from this group who I was actually able to speak with, who identified himself as Justin Calloway and was extremely rude and ignorant, that I wanted validation of this debt in writing mailed to my  home address.  He stated they could not do that and the original creditor their firm is acting in behalf of had already sent me something.  I called them scam artists and told him this was reported to the FCC and cybercrime unit of the FBI.  He got really ignorant and I hung up.  I don't answer any of their calls and they leave me voicemails which I save just in  case.

    Just got a call again at my work number (10th call this week diffrent people calling). Jason left a message stating I have 4 hours to respond otherwise he would be contacting my employer. I dont have anything on my credit report stating I owe anyone anything. I know this is a scam but causes me to have lots of anxiety. I called the number to get a message stating their message box is full to leave a phone number so they can return the call. I didnt do that. Other than changing a phone number and contacting the FTC how do you get these people to stop calling and harrassing you?

    All you can do is report them to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General.  They are mostly scammers from India and will keep calling.

    Please let your HR Dept (or manager, if you don't have an HR Dept) know that you are being victimized by scammers from overseas calling about bogus debt.  Legitimate debt collectors must send you a debt validation letter and other information which proves that you actually owe the debt and that they are entitled to collect.

    If the scammers call again, tell them you've reported them to the above agencies and you are recording all the calls they make to you (even if you're not recording).  That might get them to back off or stop calling, at least for a short time.  Don't allow them to stress you out - they are scammers.

    Yes, it's a scam!  Do not give them any information and certainly DO NOT pay them or give them your bank details!

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    •is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    •refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    •asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    •exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

    •Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
    •Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
    •Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
    •Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.
