Received a voice message on answering machine Saturday, September 29, 2007. Man claimed to be special investigator, Johnathon Wright. Said that the matter pertained to a civil suit against me. Said that failing to contact his office would result in more legal action being taken against me. He left this call back number, but the number that appeared on CID was 216-393-8225.

Received same phone call message from a Ms. Buchanan threatening me with a civil suit (with docket #).  Threatened me with a warrant, IRS inquiries, wage garnishment, all manner of nasty things.  Made me wonder what I'd done for a minute, lol.  Trashed the message.

One of my clients is having trouble with these people as well.  Please contact the Cuyhoga County Sheriff's Department at (216) 443-6000 and report any behavior that rises to the level of impersonating a law enforcement officer, particularly if one of them claims to be a Federal agent.  They are merely a collection agency and have absolutely no law enforcement power.

Same deal - Dave Weinberg called my brother said I was involved in a fraud case and I had 48 hours to reply or I would face charges. Just a collection agency for some old bill from years ago.

Just remember that no collection agency has the authority to have anyone arrested for anything. For them to threaten such a thing is in itself illegal. Also, it's illegal for them to contact other people and divulge the kind personal information about you that they gave your brother.  If I were you, I'd track these crooks down and pursue every criminal and civil course of action.  If you need a referral to an attorney who handles this kind of case, contact the National Association of Consumer Advocates ( www.naca.net ).  You may also want to check out Bud Hibbs' website: www.budhibbs.com   Bud practices in Texas but makes referrals for people that he's unable to represent.  Good luck.

Well this is what I have found out so far guys about these calls.  They are listed as naaib or north american asset investigation bureau llc, robert goldstein and associates, global investigations services, and global asset investigations.  There is several phone numbers that I have found 866-544-8397,216-373-1461,216-393-9240,216-393-0456,216-373-1462,216-373-1464,866-544-8397,216-393-4473,216-393-1460 and there is probably many more.  This company is out of Clevland Ohio.  They are reported under the BBB of Clevland and the Clevland newspaper has also done a store on this same company called the indapendace wire(news paper name).  No matter what you do dont give them any info.  I made that mistake and hope to not be paying for it in the morning.  If you get any type of call like this i would call the police department in clevland phone # is216-623-1234 or 216-623-5450 and report it.  If you give them your info call your police departmant as fast as you read this and your bank to stop it as soon as possable!!!!!!  Also according to the BBB of Clevland it is against the law to use any of the tacts that they are using to get your info.  I am taking all of my info to my lawyer on Monday and plan on fighting this jack as*es all the way!!!  This time they have messed with the wrong bitch!!!  I only hope this helps others out there to not fall for what I am going through.....  Good luck to you all!!!

Caller informed me I had a civil suit pending, gave me a complaint case number and a number to call.  I called an an agent Donald Baxter informed me of a civil suit and a warrant for my arrest for defrauding was pending.  I had two option, 1. settle out of court, 2. follow thru with warrant.  I chose to settle and he wanted me to give a settlement amount to give to the arbitrator.  I was supiscious because I did not want to give any personal information and told him I would not settle.  He seemed uspet and told me he would go ahead and issue a warant for my arrest.  These guys are a J.O.K.E.  I never had an account with the company they accused me of owing.  I called the company an found out that they had no account in my name.  Case Closed.

Here's more information on the thugs calling from this phone number.

These calls are from a criminal operation by the name of CMC Recovery that's based in Georgia. They also masquerade as working for the a law firm called "Robert Goldstein & Associates" and probably other aliases. As consumer law expert Bud Hibbs notes, there is no such attorney Robert Goldstein & Associates. These people are not only breaking federal debt collection laws, they're also committing numerous other felonies (impersonating law enforcement officials, fraud, impersonating an attorney, extortion, etc.) They are criminals and you should NEVER give them any information about yourself. Ignore their calls and report them to authorities. Here's Bud Hibbs' advice on dealing with the CMC/Robert Goldstein:

http://www.budhibbs.com/debtcollectorpages/cmc_recovery_bud.htm

Remember, the only difference between these CMC/Goldstein callers and thugs on the street is that they mug people over the phone.

I suggest you and everyone else who's received these calls contact your local police, your local FBI office, and that you file a complaint online with the Federal Communications Commission at http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/complaints.html (The FCC enforces the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act.) Also, since this batch of calls originate in Ohio, so you should file a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General by calling 877-244-6446 or going online to http://www.ag.state.oh.us/citizen/consumer/complaints.asp

For those who file a complaint with the authorities, I suggest giving them the weblinks to the several message threads on 800notes.com that concern abuse in the 216 area code by this same group of criminals (CMC Recovery Services, Inc./a.k.a. Robert Goldstein & Associates). Here are weblinks:

The only way we can stop these people is to pursue them as relentlessly as they pursue victims.
