check out the number 216-393-0456, there is a collection of #'s on page 2, if you pay attention to the different postings you'll notice this number is among the ones used for threat from Robert Goldstein, and the claims of law suits and jail time from scammers that are trying to get money out of you.

Hi.  this 'collection company' is an identity phishing scam!  Do not provide them with ANY information on you.  They are successful because they use threatening information to intimidate the consumer.  I was told that I would be charged with civil and criminal charges, a class e felony, served with either a summons or a bench warrant for my arrest.
I was accused with owing an outstanding balance on a credit card that I NEVER HAD OR OPENED.  They locate you or a relative through intellius.com, a generic people search, accuse you of some bogus debt and charges that you face.  The consumer is so terrified and dumfounded because they are so anxious to prove there is some mistake, they are conned into confirming who they ARE NOT, and therefore, the company can determine who you ARE!
By the end of my hour long phone call, I was so terrified and the company went from not having any information on me, only my mothers' telephone number where a message was left.. to having my current address, ssn, age, dob...  they ordered a credit report on me while I was on the phone!
The company has NO association with the Law Firm of Robert Goldstein, is listed on the cleveland, oh BBB website for consumer fraud alerts, and goes by several different aliases.

Hi:  I was freaking out when I got home tonight and checked my VMs.  It was this call from a Special Investigator Gina Lewis who said that a civil complaint had been filed against me and I was the respondent, Affidavit No. such and such and to call this number.  Which I did.  I got a generic "investigators are busy with other clainms" please leave name/number.  Which I did....

And then I went online to check out what the heck is a civil complaint - I'd never done anything wrong.  So after I read my rights as a "defendant" that was the red flag for me.  The "respondent" in their VM just didn't sit right.  So I thought I'll do a search on the phone # and here I am...  You can gaurantee I'm ready for the SOBs when they call me.  Hope others are lucky as I am for such sites like this that can alert us of scam artists.  Thanks everyone, now I can get my heartbeat back to normal.

Got the same message pretty much; definitely a scammer!  Beware everyone; do not let these people take your identity or your money.  Report to the authorities if you can.  I received a call regarding a civil complaint that was being filed against me; I have never done anything wrong that would initiate this. . . Thanks for everyone's emails. . .

Mine was from Rose Dawson collecting on an 11 year debt.
Civil threats, criminal threats but my sister works for a court
and her friend Discover collections.
Disregard these people they are idle threats.
I called back with a cease and desist and she laughed and said good luck.
She wouldn't give me the company name or corporate number, nor fax number for that matter
Caller ID: none

For your information ...

These calls are from a criminal operation by the name of CMC Recovery that's based in Georgia. They also masquerade as working for the a law firm called "Robert Goldstein & Associates" and probably other aliases. As consumer law expert Bud Hibbs notes, there is no such attorney Robert Goldstein & Associates. These people are not only breaking federal debt collection laws, they're also committing numerous other felonies (impersonating law enforcement officials, fraud, impersonating an attorney, extortion, etc.) They are criminals and you should NEVER give them any information about yourself. Ignore their calls and report them to authorities. Here's Bud Hibbs' advice on dealing with the CMC/Robert Goldstein:

http://www.budhibbs.com/debtcollectorpages/cmc_recovery_bud.htm

Remember, the only difference between these CMC/Goldstein callers and thugs on the street is that they mug people over the phone.

I suggest you and everyone else who's received these calls contact your local police, your local FBI office, and that you file a complaint online with the Federal Communications Commission at http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/complaints.html (The FCC enforces the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act.) Also, since this batch of calls originate in Ohio, so you should file a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General by calling 877-244-6446 or going online to http://www.ag.state.oh.us/citizen/consumer/complaints.asp

For those who file a complaint with the authorities, I suggest giving them the weblinks to the several message threads on 800notes.com that concern abuse in the 216 area code by this same group of criminals (CMC Recovery Services, Inc./a.k.a. Robert Goldstein & Associates). Here are the weblinks:

The only way we can stop these people is to pursue them as relentlessly as they pursue victims.
