Where is this call coming from?

United Reader Service General Line (I called them back).

My guess is magazine sales.  (ROsanne calling lol)

Caller said that i had been entered in a contest to win one of several fabulous prizes, and said that they were going to send me some magazines for free for 48 months.  Then proceeded to verify my address, then was going to ask some personal info.  When i declined to provide the personal info, she hung up on me.

Just called me today.  Caller ID said from Ohio, I'm in California.  No voicemail.

Called while I was at work . . .  luckily I didn't hear it ring so I didn't pick up.  No voicemail.  This is the first "spam" i've gotten on my phone since I've had this number, which I got 8 years ago!

These people do not get the clear message of "NO I am not interested, and please stop calling here!" When I called back to the number it said, "Thank you for calling the United Reader Service General Line, please hold for a representative."  When did I ever ask to be put on any calling list????

Caller said I'd been entered in a sweepstakes to win $25,000 or a new vehicle or a vacation.  Said my name had been entered by a company with which I hold a major credit card.  They could not tell me specifically what credit card company had given them my name.  When I explained that I do not hold ANY major credit cards in my name, the caller stated that I must have a debit card for my checking account with my bank, and that they must have given my name to be entered.  I advised that I had a serious problem with my small town bank giving my name to them.  Caller advised that she could remove my name from the drawing if I really wanted her to, and I confirmed that yes, I wanted my name removed from her list.  I never did figure out exactly what company this was and didn't let her get to the point where she  would be able to ask me for any other personal information.

Called me twice, back to back.  Didn't recognize number so I didn't answer.  No message was left.

The caller did not leave a message or call me back.

Said she was from Publishers. Gave me my old address and I (dumbly) gave her my new address. Then started talking about mag subscriptions to which I said I don't want those and she hung up. Didn't ask for credit numbers but I doubt she was far from it. She knew me by name but only first name.

Called today at 10:33 AM.  No message.  Called ID showed Cleveland, OH.

they called me today and didn't leave a message. I didn't know the number so I didn't answer, i looked it up and it was United Reader.

They called me and left no message also. I called back from work blcok my number and I got a voicemail. I couldn't really understand the gentleman, but I knew it had to have been a telemarketer.  I called again and it sent me directly to their general line which stated they were United Reader.

I want this number blocked somehow from calling me.

They said I was entered into a sweepstakes for some sort of vacation prize pack.  When I asked which credit card company they were from, the woman sighed as if irritated that I was interrupting her spiel and said "This is being sponsored by all the major credit card companies" (Yeah right).

I never actually verified the address, just saying "great".  She sound confused and said, "Ok, great thanks, goodbye" and hung up.

Got call yesterday.  No voicemail and then I looked it up.  Be careful with this number, from everyone's perspective it seems fraudulent.  MAKE SURE YOU DON'T GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER OUT.  I think i have been called from them before, saying I won some watch or something and they wanted confirmation of my address, from that point I got suspect and started asking my own questions.  They said they were Publishers Inc. or something.  I've heard of these people they are just waiting for you to give your credit card number, I got an e mail from friends warning about these scams.

Just got a call from this number and they hung up on me! Guess I'm the lucky one!

This number called my cell phone three times back to back to back at ten thirty this morning. how irritating. and when I finally picked up they didn't say anything.
