Called Wed 23 Sep 1242a.  Did not answer.  No voice mail left.

Just received call, was male voice, spoke great English so I assumed an American,lol. I did not say anything he just kept repeating hello. I called number back voice said my call could not be completed as dialed. Just another scammer calling from 216-555-0117!

Our caller ID said 216 555 0117 Dir Asst OH,  I thought I'd answer because I thought it was a company confirming our name and number for the phone book, turns out they said we had a virus on our computer, I told them I don't even have a computer and she said our page shows that you do and I said it was older than dirt and we don't use it anymore, she hung up on me

Sorry this showed up twice, as I said my computer is older than dirt!!!

Same call as the others, I don't answer numbers I don't know.

I received a call from this number yesterday, but wasn't home to.  There wasn't a proper name nor a business name but like some others, id did display "Directory Assistance" on my caller Id..  I received the same call tonight and was home to pick up the receiver.  The caller told me they were receiving messages that my computer had a virus.  I replied tht I'm working on my computer and nothing appears to be wrong.  She, a woman this time with an accent, suggested that I look at my keyboard and begin tapping on the WINDOWS key.  I, of course didn't comply and then said a few choice words to her and she hung up.  Area Code 216 is from Ohio...I checked it out online.  Obviously it was a bogus call attempting to extract information.  I'm don't know what kind of information can be lifted by tapping on the windows key, but I knew not to do it.  Please apprise me what information can be lifted by tapping on the windows key...if I had?  Thanks.

Instead of attempting to screw or rob people, the folks who work at these jobs should go back to school, perhaps college if they can get in, and learn something worthwhile so that they can get a "real job".  They're Idjits!!!!

A man  with a strong accent (Indian?) called today saying he want to help us with the computer, because it has a virus. I hang up. He called again. My husband said that we did not ask for help. Now the computer is not working. I think he could identify the computer trough the telephone, and was able to enter into the computer which was on.

computer assistance scam.  my elderly father answered and I know he at least confirmed his name and address.  luckily he gave me the phone because they were talking about computers.  the man on the phone claimed the "main computer at the house had downloaded malware and uploaded information to the main server."  total BS.  scum.  thanks to PhoneTray Pro that same "malware infected computer" will now block their scam calls.

Might be that computer virus.

Same as above...called Wed. October 21, 2015.....When I dialed the number back it said the Verizon customer was not available...

Scammer!!
They tell you that your computer has viruses and they will guide you to see them on the screen. These are not viruses. Next they will ask you to contact a website to create link to your computer, mess it up and request money to fix it. Stay away from these websites:

LOYALGURUS
RAPIDGURUS
These websites more likely operate from abroad and their callers speaking with heavy Asian accent.
Their websites list US addresses that may be not true.
I asked the scammer what time was and he gave me central zone time and later told me that they are located in Oakland, CA. Liars and Thieves.

Caller identified themselves as tech support for my computer.  They did not identified the name of their business and I have not inquired about any tech support so I hung up on them.

received a call Saturday morning, a foreign man said he was tech support calling to help with my computer. Who would tell me who he or his company was. When I said who called you to ask you to call me, what company do you work for. He just repeated the above statement.

Pressing the windows key pulls up the start menu.  Helps you find a program you're looking for.  The scammers have a script they follow to try to gain access to your computer.  Just ignore those kinds of calls.

Got a call from a woman with what sounded like an Indain accent who said she was tech support for my computer. Total scam. I said "no you're not" and hung up.

Again with the foreign accented "computer problem" calls. We received several last week, the third time they called, the woman asked to speak to the man of the house, "that I didn't know anything about what was happening to my computer, and it could be crucial." She insisted there was a problem, even though I had explained that when we had problems we had our own computer-pro come to the house and fix the. She kept talking over me, very rudely, I finally said she and the number were getting reported to the Maine Computer crimes force for harassment. Now again it is a new week, and they call
I am smart enough to not let them have access to my computer and or any personal info. Answer and hang up-LOUDLY!
