Over the last few months I have recieved 4 calls from a guy with an indian accent, telling me that he is able log on to my computer and i have many viruses. I got him talking for a while as i knew he was a fraud and then i told him i didnt even own a computer. This made him mad and he said why you waste my time and he hung up. Today i got a call again from an indian guy who said he is with the company who makes windows software but his not MicroSoft (What the heck!)and i asked many questions until another guy came on the phone, he was insisting my Windows operating system had corrupt files and i should go to my computer so he can help me resolve this issue. Usually it shows up private number, but today they called me 3 times and one time the number came up as 1 217 398-9755 . I finally asked the guy for his number and i will call him back and then i said i will call the 217 number he call me at, he hung up... What a joke these guys are!

You may know this is a scam but many do not.
Folks, this is a scam. Read about the your-PC-is-infected scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it.

Got the call today, we are in Alberta, Canada, like previously said, they guy said my computer is sending them lots of error reports & that I have been downloading lots of infected items, the funny thing is I havent used my computer in a very long time as I am now relying on the Ipad, so he asked me whether I had a laptop or a desktop, I played stupid & said that I didnt know, they I asked him if he knew who he was talking to or which party he really intended to reach, so he hung up!

I have received about 30 calls from this person.  He just will not give up.  I have told him that I know this is a scam, I don't have a computer, I'm contacting the police, take my number off the list etc. etc.  etc.  I'm getting sick and tired of the calls and don't know why he keeps calling back.  By now he must know that I'm not going to listen to anything he has to say.  The number that he calls from has changed over time.  It started out as a blocked name and number.  Earlier this week it was 112 345 6789 and today it was 1 217 398 9755.

This guy called, same accent as listed above. When he called it sounded like an auto dialler call. I waited for him to say something after I said hello. He did not so I said, Are you going to talk to me or not, and his reply was No F*** Y**.

He is now calling Mississauga/Toronto Ontario. This guy needs to be caged.

Yes he did make it Mississauga. I just got the call and he got really mad and slammed down the phone when i started questioning him.....

OH gee.. He just called to tell me he loves me.. WTH....

This a.m. I received a called from a woman named Rose who told me that she represented WINDOWS OPERATING SERVICE and that our computer, when we went onto the Internet, was downloading creepy (my word) files that would eventually compromise our computer.  When I said I would prefer to have our daughter, who is not a dummie as I am, handle this situation, she said that all I had to know was how to turn on a computer, so I could handle it.  I was about to go out so I asked her to call back at 5 p.m. our time.  Seemingly, she was calling from California.

I did call the number displayed on the telephone screen and it did say they were Microsoft.  Hmmm.

Anyway, luckily, my hubby was on SKYPE talking to Greece when she called so I could not access our computer.

We called Microsoft and talked to a technician - he said Microsoft would never initiate a call, rather would reply to a customer who called with technical problems.

He opened a case file and gave me an email address to report the spam:  spam@uce.gov

We've received this call several times over the last couple of months.  All times were a man with an East Indian (or something similar) accent.  I knew about this scam going on and surprised actually the first time I received.  I've just told them each time I am not interested and then hung up when he kept trying to talk to me.  Like others above, it used to be an unavailable number but this last time was 217-398-9755.  What the heck is wrong with these people....what thrill do they get out of buggering up people's computer???  I'm in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada so they are obviously everywhere!

I found a message on my answering machine when I got home from work.Somebody was saying,hello..,hello... and then hung up.Too stupid to know he was talking to a recorded message,I guess..I am in Winnipeg as well.

I just got a call from 217-398-9755.  I said hello to dead air which lasted for about 10 seconds, then a recorded voice said Good-bye.  I am in southern Ontario.

I am in Australia and just missed a call on my mobile phone. I tried ringing the number back 0011-1-217-398-9755. A recorded message said the line was disconnected or no longer in service.

I googled the phone number and came up with this site.

I live in Edmonton, AB. This guy has called me a couple of times now (the number was 217 398 9755). I usually just hang up but this time I spoke with him and told him I knew it was a scam.  He then called me an A**hole and repeatedly called me a motherfu*$er and said he was going to Fu$* my wife.  I hung up and called the police and reported it. First thing tomorrow I will be calling the Canadian Fraud Centre at 1 888 495 8501.  I encourage anyone in Canada to also report it.  By the way the guy had either an east indian accent or from somewhere around there.

got a call today from 217 398 9755 , I almost fell for this only because I was having trouble with my computer and did contact Microsoft days earlier , I thought they were calling me back. Stupid me! I wont fall for anything like it again... ... I did one step and then I stopped ... I'm pretty sure they got nothing from my computer as I stopped before they asked me to type in the website, I shut down my computer and disconnected the internet for a bit , did a full scan and just for safety , checked my programs for anything that was installed.

Got a call last night around 9:40 pm British Columbia time. Well known scam, looks like he/they use pay phones which might explain the different phone numbers.

I've had no less than 7 calls from this guy in 3 days. I am in Nova Scotia, He is a real pain in the A%#, he calls right at suppertime.

...and they've come to Denmark. Gave them heck.

Wow, three calls today.  All the same guy but different CID display  Also had calls from 630-529-5537 and one that displayed as Out Of The Area.  Total con.  I asked info like call back number, where they were calling from, for a snail mail explanation.   They wouldn't give any info, just wanted me to go to my computer and direct me.  Told them no way, told them they are a con and if they called again I would be reporting them to FTC.  I'm sure they are not done calling.  Beware everyone!

I'm from Montreal, QC, Canada. Just got a call from this guy, same accent as mentioned above.
I told him repeatedly that I didn't believe he was working for Windows or Microsoft. That didn't seem to phase him. He wanted me to turn on my computer so he could prove to me that there were errors on it. I told him I wasn't going to do this. He got loud and said "Your computer is going to crash down and get viruses!" and then he hung up. I hope he doesn't keep calling.
