I received a call at 3 am from a man who called me by my name and said " I got my self in a situation n I can't talk loud" I asked who he was and he said t" think of me as the boyfriend of a friend" I again asked his name but he would not tell me but repeated " I got myself in a situation n I can't talk loud" I hung up. This is a total scam at 3 am

a front and it is someone local. Now that landline
is disconnected. He said the same thing about
being a boyfriend of a friend and talking in a whisper.

This happened to me too about an hour ago from this number.  The whispering man called me by my first and last name and told me that he never did this but he got into some trouble or something.  It was very creepy.  When I said that I still didn't know who he was he told me to "think family."  He clearly wasn't a family member and I hung up. I do not live in IL but I'm too scared to say what state I'm in!

What the hell this just happened to me about 10 mins ago. He said he got into a situation and he needed to talk to somebody. I asked who it was and he also told me to "think family." It was very very creepy.

This is freaking me out! I hope it's really a person in Illinois and not in my town!

They called me at 2:30 in the morning.  I answered and said hello.  I heard a shuffling and the caller hung up.

I live near Missoula, Montana. I got the same call many of you are talking about at 6:30 in the morning. He called my cell 3 times in a row (and heard my voicemail, so that's probably where he got my name). I finally picked up, and he gave me a spiel similar to what you guys are saying. He wouldn't tell me who he was, he kept trying to lead me in to telling him who he was. "I'm so embarrassed, you're the only one I can talk to. Think of a boyfriend of one of your girlfriends."  I didn't hang up right away because I was curious where it was going. I really hope no one does fall for whatever scam this guy is doing. I reported it.

I got this same call in Missoula, MT today.  Caller asked for my young daughter by name.  He said his name was Jon and he lost her number in his phone.  Said he new her from school.  His voice was way too deep to know her from school.  Sounded much older.  He called twice within a few seconds of each other on 2 different phone numbers.  2176273286 and 4012629011.  After reading the reports on here, I reported it to the police.

I also received several calls from this number at 3 this morning. I did not answer (heavy sleeper). I also live in Missoula MT but do not have a Missoula number. I'm wondering if we all have a mutual person we know doing this as a prank? Or all have some other similarity? Like phone company, place of employment, etc. I have AT&T.

I received a call at 3 am and the caller pretended to be my husband and he knew my name, which is not listed.  I assumed it was an emergency and he said he needed my help and was in trouble.  He knew that he wasn't home and was talking quietly and strangely, so I thought it could be him.  He proceeded to ask for help and after talking for a few minutes, I started to question whether it was him or not and then it got very gross.  I could hear him masturbating and then hung up.  I called the police today and they told me to to report it to the FTC and the FBI.  So incredibly freaky...I will never answer the phone at night again.

in the Missoula, Montana area, received the same call. filed a police report... you should ALL do the same. Unknown male caller # shows Girard,IL address. It could be someone attending the University.Creepy

same situation to the other reports. he called me by name. told me he had taken a bunch of ecstasy and was scared and needed to talk to me. then he asked if 1,000 dollars a week would help me out. i told him i wasnt interested. he said all i would have to do would be to call someone for 2 hours a week in Greece and i would get 1,000 dollars. it sounded really sketchy. i told him i wasn't interested and had to go. i also live in MT and have an out of state number which really freaked me out that the other people were also in my area. i received 3 calls from 2 different numbers & answered 1 of them. the numbers were 217-627-3286 & 718-362-2146. i'm wondering if any of you recently used craigslist because i did and was thinking that my number could've been read by an outside party or that someone on craigslist could be scamming me.

i also reported it to the police.

i received a call from this guy today too - posted below. wondering if you were using craigslist today? i think that may have been how this person got my number. very creepy

very creepy. i looked at the time i was on craigslist & the time i got the call(s) & it was almost an hour before i had communicated with anyone through craigslist. i just assumed that's how my number got put out there... the police are looking into it.

I have used craig's list recently, but did not put any personal info on it.  Also, the caller called my daughter by name, not me.  She has not been on Craig's list.  He got the phone number from something local that would have had my daughter linked to my phone number.
