1. Debt is civil, not criminal, so you can't be jailed for defaulting on a debt.
2. If you had committed a crime, the cops would have already shown up and arrested you - they don't give you a "courtesy heads-up".

I received a call from this number. Caller identified himself as John Davis and threatened me with arrest and loss of employment due to a lawsuit that has been filed; however when I asked him the nature of the lawsuit, he wouldn't tell me anything. He kept pushing for me to give him additional personal and financial information, and when I refused, he hung up.

Got a call at my work from a guy named bruce williams iwas not at work and my coworker call and told me.so I called the number and a guy named james washington answered said he was from norman legal said I owed american cash money and I was going to jail and gonna lose my job all kinds of stuff I kept asking him things and all he would say was I was going to jail he wouldn't give me any info about american cash I have never heard of them

Your caller is a scammer.  Per the FDCPA, you should not pay any caller who refuses to mail - do not accept email or fax - proof that you owe a debt and proof the caller has the legal right to collect said debt.  Refusal to mail this documentation is a violation of federal law.  Oh, and debt is civil, not criminal, so you cannot be jailed for defaulting on a loan.  More on this here:

Follow the steps in what you need to know. A legitimate debt collector agency should not have a problem with giving you a real business name and address you can google and verify via google street view, BBB etc.

This company continues to call and harass me on my cell phone and also at my place of employment. Saying I owe them money for a loan default by American Cash. This is a SCAM!!!

I received a call from a foreign. Guy by the name of james washington and when I refused to answer his qeustions he started getting rude he had claimed he worked for a law firm yet he threatened to slash my throat but not before sucking his dick and he yelled out my adress and ssi number and told me he was coming to get me I think I pissed off the wrong person especially when I called him out for who he was .... bad move cus now hes coming for me and waseca mn police told me that unless he admits it they were not going to pursue this so basically im scared and this creep knows everything about me and all I know about him is his fake name  and I have no clue how to get this creep arressted for threatning and harrassing me does any one know what I can do?
