- Another AnonymousCalled me on 02/24/16 at 8:24am, CallerID said Mary Jones. Did not answer. Looked at other phone websites and those who answered said a man with Indian accent is scamming you by claiming you have a Windows problem on your computer and he is trying to get credit card numbers to fix this problem. No takers so far.

- Glo| 3 repliesFor several days now, sometimes twice a day, I have been getting a call from 219-884-3535, he said his name was Mark and he was from, well I didn't let him get that far, I blew a whistle right into the phone. This must have made him mad because he called back. Dummy so I did it again, I blew the whistle. Thank you all other posters, because of your comments I knew it was a scam. The phone caller ID comes up as Mary Jones
- peaches| 2 repliesI am sick and tired of receiving calls from this number. Today I finally answered and cursed this Indian guy out who claimed I had something wrong with my computer. I am sure the calls will not stop though. Seriously, how are they getting cellphone numbers?

- peaches replies to GloLol may be I should try something like that 😁
- TeddyYup got a call from "Mary Jones" twice over the past 2 hours. Did not answer. Looked through my call log and saw this person called like 7 times over the course of the day , 5 times when I was at work and 2 after work. Thank God for this site and call block, although the dude blowing the whistle above made me LOL. They almost got me, because you see that and think it must be a real person, but I did not recognize the area code. So combine that with the many calls in one day...I checked this site and now he is El Blocko!
- Teddy replies to peachesNo nothing wrong with the computer...just my phone there was an [***] at the other end LOL. I blocked Indian Mary...he called me a bunch today too. Baby must need a new pair of shoes I guess LOL

Scamming outfits like this have no idea if you have a cell phone or a landline. They use autodialing equipment that can dial through all the numbers in an area code one after another. If your number was 123-456-7890 odds are that they had dialed 123-456-7889 just before they called you and then dialed 123-456-7891 right afterwards. They usually do not even know who they reached if someone answers, and do not care; they just want that person to be gullible enough to give out their credit card information and/or access to their computer (so they can install malware and then mine the computer for financial and personal information.)
Since these scammers tend to operate outside the US and Canada, there is little the authorities can do to stop them. If you have a smartphone you can get a blocking app and block futures calls from them, or if you have a dumbphone (like I do) you can store their number in a contact with a ringtone set to silent so you will not hear future calls come in. It is usually safest not to answer numbers you do not recognize. Answering the call verifies that they have found a live number and they many make note of that for future scam campaigns. Cursing and yelling at them or blowing whistles or air horns may make you feel satisfied, but reports on this site tend to indicate that it does not stop them and may only mark your number for more frequent calls in retaliation. - TinkDustGot the call at 7:40 am on a Saturday morning when I was trying to sleep in! He started his spiel and I asked him if her would like me to call him this early in the morning on his day off. No comment just kept on going. BLOCKED! The sad part is they must have multiple phone numbers because they call back with a different number but same guys voice.
