- dave V. replies to MeIf you have not had your computer checked reciently for bugs and virus it is time to check it NOW!. MICROSOFT will never call you. it is an even bet that if you did what they asked you NOW have a tracking virus that is reporting back to them every location you go to as well and ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION you have on the computer, includeing but not limmited to your bank account numbers, social security number, and any other personal information you have EVER entered (most people don't know that every single key stroke you place on a computer NEVER goes away unless you do a complete disk format and total reinstall of all softwere or replace the hard drive)
- Slim replies to Me>> I had to press a couple buttons so that they can fix it. <<
If the scammer accessed the computer, they probably did one or more of the following:
• Disabled the anti-virus software
• Added nasty malware to the computer
• Copied the Contact List (so they can email your soon-to-be ex-friends)
• Copied any financial data or passwords they could find
• Compromised the ID
• "Zombied" the computer, so it would respond to THEIR commands sent via internet
• Deleted some important files
• Asked for money to repair the damage they caused
What can you do immediately after such an attack?
1. Pull the cables on the computer, so it cannot access the internet.
2. Change ALL passwords stored on the computer
3. Run FULL malware scans on the computer, in "SAFE" mode!
4. Change the passwords again, particularly if the malware scans showed anything
5. Inform your bank and credit card companies
6. Sign up for credit monitoring, and check the status frequently
7. You may have to bring the computer to a local repair shop, and tell them the story.
8. Tell friends what happened, so they can be aware of strange emails from you
9. Plug in the computer only AFTER all the above have been done
10. Change the passwords on all online accounts. Even better - access a "safe", uninfected computer, and chance your online account passwords RIGHT NOW.

The caller ID showed and Indiana number, which was of course fake. Guy with an Indian accent asked if this was an office and I said yes. OOOOOOOOOOH! He says. And how old you are??? I said what's that got to do with anything and hung up. Taking time out of my day to answer these bogus calls is infuriating.
- ITSASCAM| 1 replyThese people continuously call my phone telling me I have vicious malware and they can fix it. It's always someone with an accent. Eventually I stopped hanging up on them and started to mess with them. I often ask them if I get the virus from going to naughty sites. Once my brother said a few choice words about "their god" and the man started cussing, and called back 10 times in a row just to cuss at us. I have fun with them when they call. To anyone who thinks these calls are legit, please don't do what they ask. Microsoft or any other company will NEVER call you to let you know something is wrong with your computer. It's 100% guaranteed a scam to get personal information from your computer.
- Anne replies to BobSimilar thing. His name is Alex and said that he was calling from Microsoft. He has an Indian accent.....I asked him for a call back # he gave me 727 872-5502. Will NOT call
