- frustrated| 1 replyI received a call from this number just now. Earlier I received the same call but different number. The earlier one called 2 times in less than 30 minutes. I have been getting these calls about my computer for over a year. If I answer I tell them I don't have a computer.
- HereinCleve| 3 repliesHAHAHA - I kept them on the line for over 40 minutes playing stupid. I was telling them things like my pc just rebooted and they would have to hang on for it to come back up. Then I kept asking them to spell the website they were trying to get me to use. LOL. I even hung up a few times and they called me right back. They kept handing me off to other 'supervisors'. I went through 4 of em. Finally after transferring me to the 5th person. I told him right off "I'm a it/is guy" and "if you take my name off your calling list. i'll quit wasting your time". he answered ok and hung up.
Just a heads up people: Do not let ANYONE talk you into installing software that will give them remote access to your computer. Well, unless you know them.
A quick run down: They call you saying you have this and that problem on your pc. They convince you they are going to help you by installing a remote access program to gain control of your desktop. Once they do have control. They install their software and then show you all kinds of problems and then request your money to remove the problems they create. In this particular call they showed me my 'services' and all the 'stopped' services and then tried to convince me it was malware that caused it all.
Gawd, being a 25 year IT/IS guy that I am. I love when they call me and try to get over.- Caller: somekind of windows tech service
- hereincleve replies to Hd| 2 repliesMost use a voip service where they can get any area code they want. Some voip's have software that allows you to make calls from your cell phone using anyones public wi-fi. They also mask their numbers and name. I had one caller mask the number of someone else who then found out the hard way. Poor guy told me I was like the 100th caller to call him about having his number masked.
- HereinCleve replies to JonBozI know with the Nigerian e-mail scammers. They like to use public internet cafes. With all the scams out there right now. I can see how a packed cafe could sound like a call center.
- ohiodee51From windows operating system. I said oh good are you going to send me my new computer I won. He said yes I'm sending your new computer and he was gone. I think he realized I was on to him. Getting really tired of these types of calls. A lot of good "The Do Not Call' registry does.
- Caller: "Windows Operating System
- NmpdNo one answered. Sounded like a call center.
- Caller: name unavailable
- Melhala| 1 replyCalls many times weekly. Doesn't leave messages. I've answered before and they say they're caring from Microsoft about my computer. I can hear lots of people in background. All foreign voices. They have been nice but turned rude after I said to stop calling. Last man was in love merits. Then at the end he said "I hate you!" He hung up then. They change their Caller ID numbers. All numbers are "No longer in service." If I called them!
- Caller: N/A
- LyndaCaller ID said name unavailable. Heavy accent, reading script. Said he was calling for Microsoft and my computer is sending error messages. Tried not to say "yes" or "ok" but he got me on that. I've heard they can plug that in somewhere and say you ordered something. Anyway, I nicely said I don't do business on the telephone, and he would have to contact me by mail--said goodbye and quickly hung up. He didn't say anything else because he couldn't find that on his script, I assume!
- Caller: "Microsoft" scam
