I received the same call saying the IRS is filing a lawsuit against me.  To my knowledge, the IRS never calls people, rather they send letters.

There is a widespread IRS (or CRA) or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both USA and Canadian residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

Computer voice caller trying to instill fear right from the get go, saying the IRS is filing a lawsuit. They give a call back number that is different than the calling number. I'm sure if you call back you'd get the scammer in person, portraying an IRS Agent. The IRS would never conduct themselves in this manner... A computer voice, give me a break.

called here left message, saying the  irs is filing a lawsuit against me. call back asap @  206-734-4696 . I called the number
got a foreign speaking man I couldn't hardly understand. I never told him my name and he didn't know it either. he had my phone number and my  address but somebody else's name..  just another scam  you would think the almighty government could fix this......

I also received the "robotic" call  from 225 406 3486 saying "Hello", we have been trying to reach you. This call is to inform you that IRS is filing lawsuit against you.  To get more information regarding this case file, please all us a 206 734 4696, Thank you.

A minute before this call another call came in that appeared to be a cell phone # that I was unfamiliar with so I did not  answer, I'm not sure if the two numbers were connected.  I have received 3 calls re: lawsuits against me although this is the first one that mentioned IRS.

Got a call from this number saying IRS is filing a lawsuit against me. Please, and they  really think I would call them back.

Called by this DIRTY scam artist.  Stupid jerks

i called the 206 number back expecting someone from another country and they answered very fast with a name like Wall and associates. Asked if I had a tax problem advised no but they are going to have areal big one. Why does the FTC or FCC or somebody who makes big bucks do away with these scams they are happening way to much. if the republicans want to take over the white house this would be a good start. i spend a lot of time getting rid of this junk in my computer and just the hassle of the phone calls. the sad things is some people probably buy into it. so these scammers should be prosecuted. they are just as bad as a bank robber.

I received the same threatening message regarding an IRS lawsuit.

I just received a call from this number (Louisiana #: 225-406-3486). I called them back at the number they provided via-voicemail (Washington #: 206-734-4696). The "agent" claimed to be named Ben Stewart, ID Number: WA14707, EXT. 101. He indicated that the IRS put a warrant out for my arrest because of a tax audit in 2008-2012 in the amount of $635.85, unless I pay it in full today. I questioned him, for I was in college and did not make much income at that time - other than student loans, in which you do not file taxes on student loans. At first, I was confused and scared. After doing my research it turned out to be a scam. I told him I did not understand why the IRS would waste time calling someone for $635.85, when there are more pressing issues in the country to attend. He claimed they mailed me a letter, twice, and I did not respond. I asked what address the letter was sent to. He then gave me an old address. If he really was the IRS he should have my most recent address on file, especially since I just received my government passport at my new address. Therefore, that was the final validation that I needed to determine this was clearly not accurate. I refused to pay.

It is a scam, it was on our news here, same guy called me. I gave him a good tongue lashing and called him a few choice words too. Middle East accent named Ben Stewart, Right!

Received a call from a female automated robot voice - saying they were from the IRS and that they were filing a lawsuit against me - wanted me to call back a different number - 206-734-4696 - a Seattle number - but the guy on the phone insisted he was in Washington DC.  Very, very rude - and tried to make me 'take care of this matter' immediately.  Luckily I gave them nothing.

I received the same call numerous times. Each time before there is another number that calls me that I don't recognize..so I don't answer. The next call I will answer and boy are they going to get an ear full...I'm sick of these call!!!!!!!

Because they're not the ones in the White House who should be taking care of it.
