- GeoLeft a message on my business answering machine at 7:14 A.M. about legally erasing credit card debt. Added number to my Jerk List. See it below. Compile your own list and put it by the phone and don't answer. Also, write your federal and state legislators about OUTLAWING TELEMARKETING like this. My business gets thousands (really-sometimes a dozen a day) of calls like this per year and NOT ONE in the last two years has been even remotely useful. Even if one was, I am so disgusted with this waste of time that I would not repsond.
- Peeko Sanchez replies to D. NEMITHIn the recording they leave a number 888.804.3538 to call, which goes straight to the voicemail for HDC Consumer Debt (fake company).
This con is indeed an old one. I've heard the same recording from various phone numbers for a couple years now. Basically, they convince people that they can help them with their debt and/or secure government grants for them. Of course, they don't do anything at all but bill your credit card.
It is unfortunate that they scammed you, but I can tell you, short of you hiring a lawyer, you will not get your money back. Definitely call the bank that issued your credit card immediately and tell them you've been scammed. If they do not try to assist you, tell them to cancel the card immediately, as you'll likely see more charges in the future. You can try reporting the incident to your state's attorney general or the Federal Trade Commission. Please remember- NEVER give your credit card information or any other information to anyone who calls.
