Annoying calls.

This is a recording that makes you believe there is an urgent problem with your credit card.  If you press 1, the person on the end of the line asks for your credit card number. THIS IS ILLEGAL AND THE POLICE OUGHT TO BE ALL OVER THIS COMPANY.

The FTC just took down 5 of these scum suckers. Obviously they have more to go.

I have greatly reduced the number of calls to my cell phones by going to my carriers website (Verizon) and they allow me to block up to 5 numbers for 90 days. Since these scum change numbers every 30 I have had a very peaceful time. Call me once shame on you, call me twice shame on me. I also put it in my contacts list under Scum Suckers and assign it NO ring tone so at least after the first call they won't bother me anymore (I have filled all of the numbers in each and am up to Scum Sucker 47 now). This is only a whack-a-mole solution however it is the only one I can offer.
The criminals behind this operation aren't going to pay attention to you asking to be removed from their list. Their calls cost them nothing and they can make a million of them a day so they have no intention of ever removing someone. When you press a key to talk to them all that is accomplished is to verify that they have a working number.
If you want to stop these calls then you need to dry up their revenue source. Your phone company is charging you a fee for caller ID. Your phone company pays the scammer for sending their caller ID information. Your phone company pays only a fraction of a cent per call and you pay $5 to $15 to your phone company. The scammers send out millions of calls per day which amounts to a significant amount of money however your phone company is charging a large amount to millions of customers. This may have something to do with the phone companies inability to stop these calls. You can also see why the criminals keep calling even though they know you won't fall for their scam. If someone does make the mistake of answering the phone and falling for their con then it is just icing on the cake for them. These people are the lowest form of filth on this planet.
In order to stop this we need legislation making it illegal to charge for caller ID. If a phone service wishes to operate it would need to provide the caller ID at no charge to other phone providers and to it's customers as part of the service. Here is the $50,000 solution that the FCC is looking for and it doesn't cost anything.
Civil action by the FTC against such criminals is totally ineffective. These criminals need to be charged with Federal Felonies and subjected to significant jail time. All of those involved know that they are violating FTC regulations. The FTC levies huge fines, then rescinds them based on inability to pay. The FTC settles for the minimal cash on hand, and enjoins them from future telemarketing. The criminals sign off, then go right back to business as usual. These same people under different companies have been sued in the past and have only paid a minimal fine. The government needs to go after them using the RICO act. That will be the only effective means of dealing with this.

calls repeatedly - when I told them I was tired of getting their calls, the young girl snickers, laughs loudly and says "really"...and then, hangs up.  This is pathetic!

You should've said laugh now little one, you have a lot to cry later on.

Caller ID showed this 229 number.  I did not answer and from the sounds of it, glad I didn't.  They left no message.

this @#$%^&^%$# unknown number called 11-19-12 @ 3:10pm. We do not answer calls from unknown area codes or numbers.How in the @#ll do these idiots get our land #/ It is a pain in the butt for us old folks to have to go to the #@$% phone & find out its a @#$% telemarketer.The #$%^ do not call list is worthless.

I just set my defalt ring tone to "no ring", vibrate off, & assign a ring to only numbers I want to answer. All others go to voice mail.

Just got another call from this number.  I 'm so over their rudeness.  I have no credit cards  I'm on the no call list.  I'm going to start with asking our local stations to do a piece on this and after that, time to start campaigns until something is done !!!

This is a scam.  They attempt to tell you there is a problem with your credit card-But they don't seem to kn ow which one----because they ask you for your credit card number.  Come on now---if nthere was a legitamite problem/issue, they would immediately know which credit card (Visa/Master charge/American Express, etc.) and they would known your credit card number.  Watch out for scams during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years, otherwise the thieves will be doing all the celebrating.

Pressed 9 to talk to their representative. I asked to be added to their do not call list. Got hit with another sales pitch. Asked again to be put on their DNC list. They hung up. Reported.

The pitch is hot and heavy and expect a literal deluge of more of these calls from a host of modulating numbers. Now that health care reform is in evitable there is much money to be made from senior citizens in United States of America. This means that seniors are entitled to care paid for by the government. This being the case telemarketers are cross references senior's names with names available with the same last names. Then they set up Robo callers using google voice numbers till they finally get you to pick up. Since they are not selling anything, the do not call list is irrelevant. As more entitlements are doled out you will see a barrage of calls hitting your phone non-stop. It will get to a level that you will eventually receive 2 or 3 Robo calls per hour- then the program will modulate the number till it gets closer to one you will pick up. You will begin to see the program search your area code and suffix in an attempt to make you believe you are receiving a call from a neighbor. You will see much more traffic on your phone over the next two years as greater entitlements become available for a variety of Americans.

I get that call all the time. I don't ans. it none of the time. They normally hang up just before the ans. machine picks up. I think the phone companies (LAND LINES too, as all of us don't give up our land lines for the cell ones) can block any number you tell them too, but ATT does not. I have call block on my phone, and it will only block a local landland!!! You can pay them, and they will block toll free numbers. But these crooks are using toll free numbers. If the gov. really wanted to do something worthwhile, they could fix it so the responsibility would mainly be with the phone companies, or whomever has your communication properties! The phone companies make money from these things, so why should they be interested in putting a stop to it???

Will they get the message when someone shows up at their office with an Ak47 and starts dropping them like rats????????????????????????????????????????????

Dude - Thier "office" is likely in Russia or a 3rd world country in Asia.  Good luck finding it.

I see that numerous persons are receiving calls from this number.  They let your phone ring at least 10 times.  I do not answer these calls, but that does not discourage them. The Govt will have to do something abou this because the local telephone companies surely are not.  It is becoming unbearable especially to us old folks at home.

got robocall from 229-429-5298 on Wed. 12-05-12 @ 941AM. This was a credit card SCAM call and they hung up after I pressed '1' and they asked me if I had a credit card and I answered 'Yes'. This is the first SCAMMER call in over 18 days - I thought they might have 'Lost" my number. Guess No such luck.

I waited for someone to pick up this call and they said they were with Multiple Sclerosis.  I asked for the supervisor on duty and told them to stop calling my number, that I was on a DO NOT CALL LIST.  The supervisor said that didn't effect non-profits, but keep talking about contributing to their cause.  I hung up with the last take me off your list.
