229-515-4862

This number (229) 515-4862 is a scam, to collect information for a Wells Fargo Credit card.

receieve text message stating to call 229-515-4862. dont have an accountant, appears to be a scam to collect info.  I am sure Wells Fargo would give you 1-800 number.

Nov. 1st. 7:00am PST  Received a text message on my cell phone that says:

"secure@wlsfrg.com" then "WellsFargo Call: 1-229-515--4862"  

I don't get many texts and I don't have a Wells Fargo acct, but this text probably fools allot of people.  it's interesting that two others have posted a similar post this morning - all within the same hour.  It looks like somebody somewhere just launched a phishing scam and sent out a barrage of texts to random phones.  If 3 people reported them here,  there were probably thousands and thousands who received the message if you think about it.  Only a small fraction of the population would know about 800 notes.com,  so, statistically, I'm sure this text message went out to thousands all at once.

It made me wonder if the number itself is one of those numbers in the Bahamas where it instantly charges your cell company for a $400 3-minute call.

I hate crap like this, but there's not a whole lot you can do about it if your area code and phone number are just randomly texted out to by some mega program that texts thousands of people within a matter of seconds.


Has anyone actually called the number above to see who answers or what they are trying to accomplish????

If you get this message and call the number, don't fall for the scam -- DO NOT give them any information about yourself whatsoever ---- unfortunately,  they'll probably have your cell number just by virtue of your having called them....

somebody call the internet police and have these jerks arrested and sent to internet gulog.  : )

Both my husband and I got this today as well.  I did call the number to see but it says it has been disconnected.
