Probably a credit card scammer in the scam where they over pay you then ask you to send them money back, then their card or cheque bounces.
Do not respond to emails either.

Got a call today saying the government selected me for a grant that I never have to pay back!  Woo Hoo!  I laughed in the guy's face and hung up.

Us too.  Told him he sounded like a fraud.  If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

this # called my cell#..i didn't answer bc didn't recognize...hung up before voicemail picked up...

Got a similar call. But when I told the guy I could not understand him, he began cursing and threatening me.

I just recieved a call from this # promising me $9,000 free government grant for being a " Loyal Citizen". All i had too do is give them my account # to transfer it. I really hope no one out there falls for this SCAM!!!

I got the same call.  Something about me being selected for $9,000 grant money.  I told him three times I wasn't interested and he was very persistent and kept asking "but why?"    I told him to take my name off of their calling list and he told me they didn't have a calling list.  I then told him to never call my phone again and hung up.  It is such a shame that there are such cruel people out there that want to prey on the innocent hard working people.  Please don't fall for their scam!!!!

This guy called me and I cursed him out and hung up on him. He called me back and asked if I was asking him to remove my name or if I was FORCING him. I said, "whats the difference? Lose my number!" and he began cursing me out with every name in the book. I couldn't stop laughing! Made my day! I hope he calls back!

Got a call from this phone number, but did not answer it because I did not recognize it.  Immediately, I checked the internet and found negative comments.

Received a call, but they hung up as soon as I answered.

Caller spoke very broken English, said "My name is Simon I am with the United States Government Grant Programs" I told him not interested before he could comtinue and hung up.

When I answered he replied "This is John...." and that's as far as he got.  I hung up.

Just got a call on my cell and knew it was a telemarketer since I didn't recognize the number. Started telling how I have been preapproved for a $9000 loan. I cut him off told him to never call again. He just said yes ma'am and hung up.

Scam Scam Scam...I blocked the number hope that takes care of it. How hard can it be to stop this when the number is being used over and over again, not like it's being changed every time they call.

I did not answer my phone, but looked up the area code on my computer.

Just got a call from this number promising me a $9000 grant. I started laughing and he hung up. I was a alittle weirded out so I called my cell phone company before I found this site. They gave me a website to register my cell phone so telemarketers cant call you.  Not sure it will do much good in this case, but still a good idea to register anyway. www.donotcall.gov

Received a call from this number today telling me I had been selected to get a govt grant that I would not have to pay it back. Would not give me a good answer when I asked him how he got my number. I told him he was a scam and not to call my number again. He kept on talking a d would not hang up so I had to give my phone to my husband to threaten him. My husband had to hang up on him.

Got this call too.  Same Indian accent.  I let him go through his script for a little while.  Same story $9,000 grant, didn't have to pay back, could purchase anything with it blah, blah, blah.  He said he was in Washington and would transfer me to the US Treasury Dept so they could set up the transfer.  I heard enough and hung up without saying anything.  He tried calling me back 5 times!  I finally answered again and he asked me for my account number or my card number.  Told him I wasn't giving that out and not to call again and he hung up on me.  Idiot scammers.  Go get a real job.
