- Kayla P.| 1 replyCalled and didn't leave a message.
- Elissa H| 1 replySCAM!
Left a message indicating I was behind on my cell phone bill & requesting payment by phone. They said I owed $150.00. My payment is not due till the 11th of the month & is not overdue nor do I owe that amount.
Reported to Verizon & was told they do not resort to that kind of collection for bills.
Unable to speak to a live representative.- Call type: Debt collector
- Cliff Wild| 8 repliesHang ups 6 times, when I answered, and the Caller I.D. said Cape Coral, Florida.
When I called back, 8 separate times, they wouldn't transfer me to a supervisor.
When I called 1-800-VERIZON, the next day, I spoke with a legitimate representative, who was still on the line, when I called back to 239/214-2609, on my cell handset, and put the call on speakerphone, so that the legitimate Verizon rep could hear the call. During that call, when I asked the fraudulent Verizon rep, why they had called me and hung up 6 or 7 times; said that was because I had a $145.00 credit (which I don't). When I questioned why they would call me, if I had a credit, as to why they wanted my pin number, my cell number, my E-Mail address and MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER, TO SETTLE MY ACCOUNT, the rep at 239/214-2609 didn't have a reply - At which point, I told her to have a nice day; and I ended the call with her, while remaining on the other phone, with the legitimate Verizon rep; who conferred with her supervisor and then, directed me to 800/518-5507; which is Verizon's Fraud department.
They, in turn, referred me to the Federal Trade Commission Fraud line, at 877/382-4357; where a complaint was officially filed.
IF you get calls from that fictitious Verizon number, at least you know the steps that someone who's been in the telephony industry, since the early 1970's has done.- Caller: Verizon

- Marchelle M.| 2 replies7/16/2016 call from 239-214-2609 . The caller left a message stating there was a change in my Verizon status and to call the number and enter a reference code number, which is my home telephone number. This is not a Verizon number.
- Caller: Supposedly Verizon
- Susan CGot a call from this number. When i answered it was a pre-recorded message saying it was Verizon and ro please call them back about a "status change" to my cell phone number. They asked that I call them back with a reference number which was actually my cell phone number. I called the Verizon number off of my bill and also contacted Verizon wireless and both said it was NOT a Verizon number that had contacted me. It is some sort of scam. I DID NOT call the number back!
- Caller: Level 3 Communications
- Jerry CallenderI just got the recording, calling my name, and saying there had been a change to my account and to call back with my phone as the reference number - I also called 800-VERIZON to check status of my account.
- Tracee EI had a voicemail on my Verizon landline telling me there has been a change in my verizon status and to call 239-214-2609 and use a reference number that is my landline number. I figured it was a scam. My bill is paid plus I have never had a phone call from verizon from any number except when I asked them to call me back on something and the caller ID said it was verizon calling. This call came from "out of area."
- Caller: 239-214-2609 - said they were Verizon but I know it wasn't Verizon
- Do not scam us.Got a call from a similar computer generated call from 'Cape Coral FL exchange' stating 'status of account requires attention.' It is clear that this is just a scam as I know 1) my last bill was paid in full and 2) my next bill is not due for about two weeks.
- Caller: 'Verizon'
- FredLeft a voicemail about my status.
My Verizon phone is a company phone, so I never see a bill personally. - Sherry| 2 repliesAugust 11th,2015 got a call from Out Of Area 239-214-2609: stating my status on My landline Verizon account had been changed and they needed to speak to me with my home # being the reference number.. I assumed it was a scam, checked 800 notes, and seen all these folks had the same experience. I will report it to Verizon later today.
- Caller: Fake Verizon
- LONIE| 1 replyI just got a call from 239-214-2609 stating they are from verizon and that i have a status change to my verizon account. My reference number is my cell phone number. I'm so tired of these scam out here. After reading everyone else complaints i'm not alone with this b.S. It is so getting on my nerves. I will be reporting this to verizon (the real verizon company)
- MCReceived a few calls from this number. From the comments above, I have taken no action but wanted to document here that I have been called as well.
- Caller: "VERIZON"
- Tired of scams like thisSame thing happened to me. 2392142609 called, left message that there has been a status change on my account and to reference a number, my landline. Also did not bother to call back, but did want to post here for a warning to other folks who get this call.
- Caller: Fake Verizon
- MarlenaSame as many others have stated. They left me a message saying there was a change to my verizon status and used my cell phone number (which they had called) as the reference number. It can be deceptive b/c we do have verizon services at home. Scam scam scam. Don't call back. Don't give your reference number (ie, confirm your cell number). If you think there might be an issue with your verizon service, call 1800-Verizon and speak with them directly.
- Caller: Scam
- Billy BroggiCalled...Said they were Verizon....problem with my bill. Called Verizon. Never heard of the number. No prob
with my bill. Scammer. Verizon is tracing the number for me. I am retired AT&T. Will find where it is used from.- Caller: Said they were Verizon
- Call type: Debt collector
- MoiraAlso called us and we consulted google search and found listing here
we returned the call and the gal who answered insisted she was a legit Verizon rep from the Phillipines
very confusing as no message was left and no caller id states Verizon is calling you----of course, I would expect the phone company to utilize calller id- Caller: Verizon Phillipines but Unsure
- Call type: Debt collector
- MeSame message as others stated above. Sick of these scammers!!
- BeverlyI received a voicemail message from this number today. The recording stated that it was from Verizon. I called and the number was unable today get through. I contacted Verizon and the rep tried calling but also was unable to get through. I asked that he report this and he assured me that he would. I live in Washington D.C.
- LillianI confirmed that it is a scam. Block this number. On my home voicemail, a computer generated message (man's voice) was left today, saying they were "Verizon"-- even stated my full name and gave my home tel as the reference number to call back. I confirmed with Verizon and with Verizon Wireless (in case it related to them) and they each respectively said it is not a Verizon or Verizon Wireless number and that there have been numerous complaints filed regarding this number. It is a fraudulent number and scam. You can call 800-518-5507 (Verizon's Fraud Dept.) to report it and also the FTC Fraud Line at 877-382-4357 to officially file your complaint.
- Caller: Verizon SCAM
