- CThey call and leave a message saying "Hello,...hello? That's OK, I'll just call back later" and they obviously know they have voicemail.
If they're selling something, they should know I would never buy from someone harassing me. - TallyCalled but left no message.
- BillReceived a call from 239-220-5918. Caller id said 'Fort Myers FL'. I never answer calls from numbers I don't know. They didn't leave a message. I searched for the number and found this page. Probably yet another scam...
- BillCaller said he wants money for the families of dead cops.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- TallyCalled again. I did not answer since I didn't recognize the number.
- FLAGetting calls from this number. Post on another site says caller identified as State Highway Patrol asking for donations. We have received many calls at our home with the caller supposedly being Florida Police, Florida Police Union, Florida State Highway, Florida State Troopers, Florida Firefighters, etc. They have used many different numbers so we speculate that these calls are not legitimate: 239-220-5920; 941-205-0061; 239-324-9740; 305-602-3079; 941-462-1008; 813-413-4999; 813-444-5672 (Spoofed #).
- Caller: Wireless Caller
- KHrecent articles at better business bureau, scam busters dot com and the fiscal times dot com indicate that there is a new scam that telemarketers and scammes are using. They are now using the spoofed numbers of regular people.....anyone who has a telephone number, small local businesses, friends or neighbors of the targeted phone call. The articles also state that the scammers have figured out that householders will not pick up the phone if they have checked and determined that the number in the caller ID is spoofed. By using the phone numbers of regular people and regular businesses (there have already been reports of "florists", "childcare centers" and elderly people randomly calling lots of different householders. The scammers are hoping to trick the householder into picking up the phone. Another new scam according to the better business bureau is for the scammer to call the target phone number.....using the householder's own phone number in the caller ID. The idea is to pique the householder's curiousity (or shock them) into picking up the phone to see why their own phone number is displayed the caller ID. The BBB warns against picking up these calls, but if you do.....do not press any buttons if you get a recorded message instructing you to do so. If you missed the call, do not call the number back and
do not give out any financial or personal identifying information to the supposed caller.
