FAKE NUMBER IN CALLER ID.  This number is the fax number for a carpet store in Ft. Myers FL.

This phone number, 239-463-8759 belongs to a small carpet business in Fort Myers, Florida. It is not realistic that this carpet business is randomly calling people in or outside of Fort Myers. The BBB recently published information advising of a scam in which the telemarketers or scammers are using (spoofing) the numbers of regular people, specifically targeting small businesses. This is likely what is happening in this case. In the past 6 months there have been increased reports of many people receiving calls from florists, family business in tampa, florida, very elderly men and women, child day care providers, etc. When some of the posters have picked up the phone, the caller claimed to be debt collector, sales rep for solar energy, Fl state troopers, FL firefighters, etc. BBB says never trust what is in your caller id anymore. The scammers are using the phone numbers of regular people hoping to trick people into picking up the phones. I feel badly for the people whose phone numbers are being spoofed. People just can't think of enough ways to act in a corrupt manner.

Received a call from 239-463-8759.   Caller id said 'Fort Myers B FL'.  I never answer calls from numbers I don't know.  They didn't leave a message.

Male voice claimed to be from the police Benevolent etc.  Yes - do not think so!!! I said to mail me something - bet I never get anything.

If you call the number it says it is a locked toll free number!  what will these thieves think of next

these people have spoofed a carpet cleaner's phone number and are scamming people saying they are raising money for some police charity. do not fall for this scam - block their number!

Just called me. Now they are blocked. Its Saturday so prime time for scammers.

Received a spam call from this number several times, including today. Thanks to this fine website, I know I've been receiving "spoofed" calls from scammers using legitmate phone numbers. It is true, you can't trust your caller ID anymore. I've filed complaints with AT&T and the FCC...response: "we are aware of the problem"...blah blah blah.

That's not new.  They FCC has known about it for at least a decade, since the middle of the Bush administration.
