Number called on 4/10/14, left no message. Caller ID came up as V409162051001211. Not sure what all the V numbers are but they occur on some of the robo calls.

I had this number come up as Damascus, MD. No idea who they are since they didn't leave a message.  Tired of all these soliciting calls, especially since my number is unlisted/private AND on the useless National Do Not Call Registry.  I have had many of the ID's come up with that "V" number crap.   I wish my phone provider would allow more than 12 numbers to be blocked.  I think these are people looking for donations for fire/police, not sure.  Sorry but I don't do anything like that over the phone.  There has got to be a way to get these calls to stop!!!!!

This phone number appeared on my C.I.D. as Unknown Name 240-207-4388 today June 19th 2014 at 4:00 P.M. and as usual, no VM was left so it was ROBO calling once again.
I have learned over the years not to answer my phone if I don't reconize the phone number and don't call that particular phone number back either. If it's important or an emergency, a message will be left on my VM and since no message is left, it indicates to me that it's either a telemarketer or solicitor or worse, a scammer calling and I have more important things to do with my free time than being on the phone with them.

The V number is a string put in by the robo V-Dialer.  It tells you the call was placed on the 4th month, 9th day (409) at 16:25:51 or 4:25 pm and 51 seconds and you were call 1211 in the current sequence of calls.  Not much use except possibly in discovery during a lawsuit against the caller.

I agree with Terri--we also pay for an unlisted/unpublished #, and we are on the Do Not Call Registry--we continue getting calls like this, but we, too, are at the max for blocking 12 calls! When we deleted to make room, we quickly fill up again. What good is the DNCR?! We did not answer this 2402074388 call--we had another one today via different robo call for Guy running for MD Governor--Larry Hogan. These people are too cheap to send U.S. mail! Think of the money USPS could make if these people would have to mail potential interests rather than calling them!

Been getting a lot of calls from this area. The other that do have reports are from a suspicious police charity. Just add them to the call blocker and hope they give up.

*67'd the number and got an automated message, but no identifying company name. It sounded like an amateur recording that stated their hours were still during the time of my [polling the number. SLIM. Into the S list they go!

They are calling to solicit for the F.O.P, so they say.  They go from one exchange in the 240 and 301 number with different exchanges, just like the very annoying police  protection scam.  I believe this is just a different scam with the same take off.  No one at the local F.O.P know any thing about this, they say hang up.

Having an unlisted/unpublished number is of no help against a computer that dials all numbers in sequence.  The computer doesn't care how many non working, busy, no answer or answering machine calls it makes since it only passes live answers to an agent in the call center.  Likewise the DNC list. It does not block anyone from calling but only provides a list of numbers of those who do not wish to receive SALES calls.  Legitimate businesses register for and pay for access to the list and do remove numbers found there.  The list is meaningless with respect to solicitations for charities, research surveys that do not lead to a sales pitch or qualify you as a potential sales lead, political calls or debt collectors since these type of callers are not required to use the list.  If you are on the DNC list and do receive a call soliciting the sale of good or services, you can rest assured is it almost certainly a scam.

These people are relentless and being unlisted and on donotcall.gov does seem worthless.  Ger a panasonic model phone that blocks up to 250 calls.  You can automatically block anonymous calls and blocked numbers "private" calls, and then numbers as they come in.  Numbers you block will get one ring and then nothing - if you're home, you hear one ring then nothing (unblocked calls are announced after 1st ring).  I got it and cancelled the call intercept from verizon where I could only block up to 25 numbers.  Love this phone,

Also, if you're not home and a blocked number tries to call and rings once - you don't get a missed call indication.  If you look down your list - you'll see it there with a blocked symbol next to it.  I wish it didn't even ring once, but it's not that bad, I take satisfaction in knowing these people must be pulling their hair out that it just goes dead/stops ringing for them.

Meant you can block up to 250 "numbers" not calls.
