Several calls and messages left about legal action against my name by the IRS.

Yes...the same...threatened that I would be arrested; I assume they were going to ask me to pay lots of money over the phone, but I didn't get that far.

Claimed IRS legal action against me. Said to call IRS at this number right away  240-215-4316. Recorded garbled message left on our vm at 6:53 AM.

Received two calls on 9-15-2014 from "IRS Hotline". Both calls left a badly garbled message. We know better, it's a scam.

Yes, same call with message about IRS criminal investigation, serious allegations and asking to call back.  We also received a similar message with a different call back number (240) 252-6763

Getting calls from this number second day in a row - person said her name is Michelle and asked to call immediately to the IRS Hotline and need to call immediately as might have serious allegations.

Same message from "the IRS" and "legal action" blah blah. Garbled computer-voice message.

Received a voice mail message saying to call the IRS Hotline. This is time sensitive. Voice sounds unclear.

I got the same messages twice for this week 9/15/14 and 9/17/14.  Called number 240-215-4316 and a man answered the phone with "This is Internal Revenue Services".  I asked him "Are you sure that you are IRS?" and he hung up the phone right away.  BE AWARE!!!  This is a scam phone because IRS would never call and left you a message regarding your legal matters or tax matters.  They only send you letter by mail and they always have 1-800- numbers.
DO NOT CALL THEM!!!
And DO report this to IRS through website:  www.TIGTA.gov (Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration).

Call received and left a voice message. Immediate IRS call back required at the above number. I called back and asked the party for their IRS agent ID number -he provided 237211--the person representing the IRS claim I had a arrest warrant & law suit against me. I hung up on him. I know the IRS doesn't work in this manner.

got two calls from this number today.  I googled the number and got this site.  I filed a complaint with the IRS, the website Henry gave above  www.TIGTA.gov

I have received unsolicited calls from this number as well.

Thanks for this post.  I got the call, and decided to take your approach. It went like this:

"Hello, this is _____ form the IRS."
"Are you sure this is the IRS?"
"No."
"You're not sure if you're the IRS?"
"What?"
Didn't you just say you're the IRS?"
"I don't remember that."
"Ok, who are you?"

On Sept 26, 2014, I received couple of voice messages from this number regarding the IRS action. I decided to call and a guy answered. He said he could help me avoiding the IRS action by wiring him $6786.00. I pressed him and he gave me a name of Mark Hamilton, IRS badge number - 237211. I checked and found out this was a scam. I tried to call  the number again today (Nov 12, 2014). There is a voice greeting now and sounds like Indian or Pakistani.
