``message from IRS``, and earlier today, same message came from 202-558-4580

Hey did you call this number back??

Is there a way to report these crank callers? I received a call from 240-252-6763 today with a recorded voice saying it is the IRS criminal Investigation. The caller id showed as Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Also received a call, recorded voice message computer generated supposedly from IRS Criminal Investigation

I have gotten three 'hang up' calls today from this number. I called it back and some guy with an indian accent knew my name, but said there was some kind of IRS criminal complaint against me. He asked for my 'criminal attorney' and I said, "Hey, I have no idea what you are talking about" then he hung up.  

I received a call from 706-805-1789 leaving me a message that this is the IRS Criminal Investigation Unit and to call 240-252-6763. Rattled, I called and a man with an Indian accent stated his name is Jonathan Francis ID#023577.  He spoke with me stating that there is an investigation against me for tax evasion, tax fraud and money laundering and that an arrest warrant is going to be issued immediately if I don't pay $4,389.00 through electronic federal tax vouchers. Then he directed me to a CVS or 711 to purchase Vanilla reload network cards. He stated that I could not hang up and that he needed to be on the line with me when I pulled out the cash from my bank and bought the cards. When I did not comply, the sheriff's department has called to warn me of an arrest pending and then central booking. I had to disconnect my voicemail because of the threatening messages. I have called everywhere but no help. Local police department, IRS, telephone company......All are aware of this scam but there is nothing that you can do to stop it.

Had several messages on vm from 240-252-6763 a digital message stating it was IRS Criminal Investigation Unit.  Called the number back and got a recording. A male with Indian accent stated I had reached Criminal Investigation Unit of Internal Revenue and instructed me to leave a message... I hung up and proceeded to "google" the number to make sure it was legit.  Found this site and appreciate all of you who posted.

Got the same IRS warning of criminal investigation. I'm a pastor and I know I have done nothing illega  They need to have the law enforcement hunt this flea bag fraud  down and get him for making threatening calls over the phone lines - interstate.
He's nothing but a scammer.

He's probably calling from outside the US, from a country where scamming dumb Americans is not a crime.  He can't be caught.

This number has been calling all morning. With the same recording about a criminal investigation. Sounds like a scam right off the bat but I can see how some may be alarmed. I tried calling back and suddenly the phone number wasn't accepting calls.remember if they ask for money over the phone its a scam. Don't fall into the trap! Must admit the phone calls are annoying but do your best to ignore them. Stay aware!

got a call from the I R S on sept 10, 2014 @ 6:50 pm a criminal investigation.240-252-6763 I told my husband there is something fishy about that call. we are hard working citizens and trust me we owe nothing to the I R S

I just got a call today saying it was an IRS final notice about my arrest.  All BS!!
