Got a call from this number, no message left, when I called back it rings only once then stops ringing...but holds you on the line???

Got a call on this Number today.  It's Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep customer support.  Wanted to set up a VIP appointment at the local Dodge dealer.

This number rings and hangs up when you answer the phone. Grrrrrrrrr.

Jut submiited internet inquiry for a Ram 1500 through a local dealer.  All that call is, is to verify tha tyou gave them a working phone number.

how do you stop them from calling!!

Signed up to win $45,000 towards a new Dodge truck during the Sturgis motorcycle rally last week; they were calling to talk to me about the Ram 5500 I want.

If it is Dodge/Chrysler it may be related to me entering a contest for a Dodge Ram and Dart. Also getting calls from a local dealer saying I was interested in a Challenger. Dealer has called 7 times and has also sent me 5 emails. The sales manager left me 2 phone messages wanting me to call him back or come in to the dealership. Cars sales must be desparate these days!!

When you give your phone number to enter a contest or you make an inquiry about a vehicle at a dealership they load your phone number into an autodialer that calls you and rings twice to see if you'll pick up.

It only rings twice to avoid false positives that it would get by going to voice mail after 3 or 4 rings.

If you pick up on the first or second ring the bot automatically marks your number as a valid lead, then the owner of the bot sells the verified lead to the dealership.

The dealership then distributes your number to every car dealership in their network.

If they don't make a sale to you they have every other dealership in their network contact you to try to get you on the lot.

The best way to combat these dialers is to use Google Voice and mark the number spam. If a number is marked as spam it gets a "number disconnected" message when calling, which causes your number to be automatically removed from the bot.

Stop the calls. There needs to be a law for these people to stop calling. Consumers have NO rights anymore. Just pay taxes - that's our only right.

I answered one time and it was allstate calling me back for my quote on auto insurance that I had requested, however I never did request this and I told them so.  I've gotten several calls like this including a dealership calling me with the quote I requested on a new vehicle.  The only place I gave my number to was the DMV when I renewed my tags.  I think they are the ones who sold my number.  What a coincidence that both calls have to do with vehicles!
