They just called me sounds like a scam

Someone named Richard Blackburn called saying that I was being sued and needed me to call them back

They just called me with an automated call. Remember people a couple things when you get this call .. especially this one:

1. You will not received an AUTOMATED call from a true attorney or agency with out allowing you to talk to someone.
2. They never mentionaed my name but yet gave a case # (734311 in this case - wonder if that is the # of calls they made). How do they know if they got the right person?
3. Why would they have you call back the number that called you?
4. Internet search finds NO ATTORNEYS with the name of Richard Blackburn in Michigan. Only 2 found one in texas and one in England.

If you happen to talk to a live person at this number obtain as much info without giving any of your information. Use a fake name address etc. The more information we gather the safer everyone wil be ..

well I decided to have some fun and try to get information.. I called back (*67 before my number). They ID'd as Legal Mediation Services. I could input my case # (did not) or go to customer service (OK Customer service in a collection agency attorney) I pressed 2 to go to CS.. I talked a guy who asked for my # or name .. gave him a fake name .. he quickly said that was not my real name and HU.. I called back a total 4 more times with slightly different accents. One guy I got the they were from Grandville, MI but nothing more. One guy said he was from "earth" they all started to get upset when I refused my ph# or case # and refused information. Finally by the 5 try back they just picked up the phone and hung up... guess they don't like getting spammed back. Thinking about trying again tomorrow and keep bugging them.
I searched for collection agency and attorney's in Grandville Mi and guess what .. NONE!! If I do try again I will use my case# but change a # or two and see what I get.

There have been plenty of Legal Mediation Services SCAMS listed on the internet. In Atlanta and in Texas

Double checking on where a/c 248 is -- not anywhere near Grandville but actually located in Auburn Hills, MI.. of cource no Legal Mediation Services listed nor a Richard Blackburn..

Call from some "unknown" linked to an email domain. Gives this 248-537-9302 number as a call back number to reach our good buddy Richard Blackburn.  Of course I better call right away [NOT!] because a legal matter resulting in garnishment or civil judgement will be filed against me within the next 24 hours. Yeah right....I'll be waiting!

ps: I found this link by googling Richard Blackburn scam phone  call and got all sorts of hits, I just came to this one since it's the same number I got for a call back number. Apparently Richard Blackburn is a busy guy with at least 3 other numbers: There is also a duplicate thread using this number

The 800# comes back to CBE Group - a collection agency out of Waterloo, IA. No locations in Michigan but interesting that they have a branch in the Phillipenes. They have been around for a while so they could be spoofing a # from CBE or using an old one.

From reading all notes they are scammers and there is no true debt they are collecting or if they are it is old or highly disputed (fraud) .

I got several calls on my answering machine saying "call this Attourney"or " You will have to pay to avoid going to court" !

It is a Robo-Call pure and simple.  We are a Company, not a personal phone number.  These calls come in on each one of our lines about once a week.  Once it said there was a settlement in our favor, once it said there is a lawsuit against us.  Since we are a company and I'm the operator, how would they indeed know who they were asking for.  Ignore these calls or report them where possible, it's all a Scam.

3. Why would they have you call back the number that called you? AND IT'S NOT EVENT HE NUMBER THAT IS SHOWING UP ON CALLER ID.
4. Internet search finds NO ATTORNEYS with the name of Richard Blackburn in Michigan. Only 2 found one in texas and one in England. MAYBE WE CAN GET THESE RICHARD BLACKBURNS TO SUE FOR DEFAMATION?

These people call me and are harassing me at my job!  I know it is a scam but I cannot get the calls to stop!  Anyone have any suggestions?

There is not much you can do.. I only received the one call as I returned my call using *67.. When they call is it the recording or actually person?

Another scam from "Richard Blackburn".  F***ers need to roast in hell.

They called I call back. Said it's debt from 2005. I cannot remember that far back. 7 years is max in Ohio to collect old debt. I said well send me some info and he argued with me about it and would not let me talk. Said they would go to court if I didn't pay. I said you have to send the court some info so you will also have to send to me. He said you will have to pay $3000 to $4000 to hire an attorney. So I may as well settle and pay the $2000.

People, if you get the call it is not legit. They must send you legal documents. You can ask for a court litigation which will cost you nothing. If you owe it you can then make payment arrangements. A legit debt collector will always try yo settle debt this way before suing. It's way cheaper.

I just filed bankruptcy so I unlike you guys fell for the scam gave them my credit card info. after I informed my lawyer she told me to call back and have them email me or her the information of the people I owe and have the card unauthorized which I did and end up cancelling the card with my bank the next day but the way these guys were speaking to me was crazy and when I called back days later to try and get info from them or stir them up to keep them from not want to try and scam me anymore or use my social which they some how had, they called me the N word and other derogatory words completely and hung up on me, and I simply asked could they send me the information and when was my court date when he verified I unauthorized my card is when he got furious and started speaking to me harshly I am filing a complaint with the attorney general's office and even if I don't get anything I may sue you guys may want to file as well they need to be stopped!  

Couple questions

Why, if you filed BK pay a debt that should have been included??
If you gave them your credit card did they actually try to charge you/take funds? If so what information was on the billing? If it was a debit card the charge would have information on who they actually are.. same with a credit card transaction.
The issue here is we do not know where these scums are located. They say they are in Grandville, MI but nothing can be found to their likeness there.

I called back it is said to be e Capitol, about a debit I already paid , with documentation. Do not call it back.

I got the same call from 313 242 0681, they left a message with the same "24 hours until Im sued".  They said i owed a us bank debt and gave me a different account number than in the voice mail. Also asked to validate the debit, the guy got mad saying its already been sent out. Asked to send certified this time I should get it tomorrow as I am already in Michigan. Guy named Steven was a "case worker", said he will let "them" know I refused to deal with it and hung up. Could not find anything on Legal Mediation Solutions. Called back got disconnected again, called back a second time spoke with Steven again. Asked for a business address, he "didn't feel comfortable giving that out". Asked who "Richard" was, he said the attorney there. He finally provided the address as 2885 Sanford Ave SW Grandville, MI 49418. Looked it up, its industrial manufacturing.

Advised I was sending a letter to validate the debt. "Steven" said he would re send validation via email, still nothing received.

UPDATE:
Just got a call back from an "UNKOWN"  asking if I received the information via email i requested. Advised I did not, offered to send them an email and they reply back with the attached information. "Steven" then said he just sent it again and he will give me another hour to respond.
