Accept Acceptance -- Rhonda Little, Debt Collector

This is a Michigan Company that is a collection agency that uses an automated computerized telephone dialing system to call, and harass, consumers. Their tactics involve dialing a particular telephone number and playing a pre-recorded message something like this when you answer the phone:

"This call is for John Q. Smith. By accepting this call, you are acknowledging that you are John Q. Public. If you are John Q. Public, this is Assett Acceptance Calling John Q. Public. This message is for John Q. Public. If you are John Q. Public, please stay on the line." If you stay on the line long enough to talk to a real live person, they are very nebulous in telling you who they are (until they get you 'hooked') but want all kinds of personal information about you from you.

They repeat this same basic message in a variety of ways and hope that you will remain on the line. Although these tactics originated from 248-605-0942, they are very similar (if not identical to those originating from the toll free telephone number of 866-212-7408. I do believe this is the same company and they are a collection agency for Sprint Cellular telephone (and probably other companies) that have no business ethics and will DRIVE YOU NUTS. I know; I began receiving calls from them about three months ago trying to collect a cellular phone bill that I suppposedly owed EVEN THOUGH I've NEVER had a cellular phone account with Sprint.

They are ruthless, vicious people. If you're being harassed by their tactics, I suggest you make a complaint with your local Better Business Nureau. Also, do a Google search on 866-212-7408. You'll find the results interesting to say the least.

To 'deal' with this unscrupulous company, have 'Selective Call Forwarding' added to your phone line by your phone company; about $4 a month additional. Then, program the 'Selective Call Forwarding' service to automatically reroute these unwanted and harassing calls to (area code) 555-1234. That way, when they call you, their call is automatically routed to the 555 number (which is an invalid number) and  they will receive a message that says that the number is either invalid or disconnected. Your phone won't even ring the next time they call. And, if they start calling your from another number, simply add that number to the 'Selective Call Forwarding' service call list; you can have up to twenty numbers.

Another thing you can do is buy a System 400 Callier ID 'box' from Radio Shack. It uses the same basic concept as the Selective Call Forwarding from the phone company except that it plays a message stating that their call is being rejected. Either means works very well; I use both simultaneously.

That should 'take care' of your problem from Assett Acceptance and other similar, unscrupulous companies.

Lastly, if you owe them money for a legitimate outstanding bill; just pay what you owe. That, too, will hopefully resolve any issue that you have with them.
