CIBC calling to sell Hospital protection insurance....

Yesterday, they called me at 7:30- i didn't answer due to an earlier unrecognized number earlier the same day (250-614-9827) When I called the number back, it was 'disconnected', identical to the other number^^^

Yesterday I got one of these calls, now today I get another - yikes! Was having a nap with my son when the phone rang downstairs. I let it ring, and figured if it was important, they'd leave a message. Besides, I have caller id. The number on the id is 250-220-1011 and I tried calling it back twice. Got a busy signal once, and the message that it has been disconnected another time. Not liking these calls so much!

Stop calling my home!

This number has tried to call me before, as indicated on my caller ID but since the name is "unavailable", I have not taken the calls.  I did a search online for (250) 220-1011 and it says that this number is "unpublished".  When I tried to phone the number, i got the message saying that this number has been disconnected but evidently, it's still being used.  

I phoned my telephone provider, SHAW and have left a message with them requesting that the President contact me concerning this kind of illegal activity (I am presuming that it's illegal).  Service providers such as SHAW, should band together and use their power and influence to try and put a stop to this kind of thing with the help of the CRTC.  People (telemarketers), should not be allowed to hide behind a phone number.  Apparently they are able to do so and are getting away with it by using the internet.  There should be a law against this kind of commercial activity and violators should be punished.  Next time that number tries to call, I will answer because I would like to confirm who it is.  Someone commented earlier (Nov. 7, 2007) on this website that from this same number, "CIBC [is] calling to sell Hospital protection insurance....".  If that's the case, CIBC should be ashamed of themselves.

This caller is NOT from CIBC. CIBC has made it very clear to its customers that they would never cold call people nor send emails.

I just got a call from this number.  The lady said she was calling from SBT with a very brief survey.  She didn't ask if I wanted to complete the survey but just started right into it.

The survey had about 6 or 7 brief questions and at the end I stopped her and said ,"So where are you calling from again?" She said, "SBT".  She was in the middle of saying goodbye and I said, "What is SBT?" and she said it was a market research company.  The weird part is that the phone survey didn't fit into "market research".

I tried to call the number back and it says the number has been disconnected.

What a pack of useless sensationalists! Write something useful here. THIS NUMBER IS TO THE SWITCH USED BY A LONG DISTANCE SERVICE OR CALLING CARD COMPANY TO ROUTE CALLS FROM ONTARIO TO BC. It could easily be a friend from Ontario calling you in BC, dummy. Take yourselves a lot less seriously or take your facts a lot more seriously.

Got a call today from this number she said she was from sbt a research company and did i have time for a survey about smoking/air quality in my area.  I asked her if i could be taken off the list and please do not call me again.  She then said oh it will only take less than a minute, I asked her again to not call and i know she is doing her job and do not mean to be rude but please do not call me, she then went to ask me again about the survey.  I asked her if she was supposed to ask me 3-4 times about this survey even though i have asked her that i do not want to do it and to not call again.  She continued to ask me more questions ignoring what i was saying.  At this point i said obviously she is not listening to me and I wanted to speak to her manager she said ok ok i'll take you off the list and hung up on me.  Am going to be calling BBB and make a formal complaint, so WCLAY why dont you write something useful and help people instead of calling them dummies!  I do not know what this number was for either and you could have informed people politely which makes me think you are someone from this research company/or company that uses this number.

They called me 3 times today, and twice yesterday.

got a call on my Bell/Virgin cell. No answer/ no message..?. I called back and it was listed as disconnected..

Got a call from this number today and person said that I had won some money and needed credit card info, when I said I did not have a credit card, then they wanted bank account number. I went to my bank and talked with a manager there about it and she said that it is a scam and not to give ANY FINANCIAL INFORMATION over the phone or internet to anyone you personally do not know because they will clean your account out.

i got a call at 12 30 in the evening tonight!?!?!? the "message" they left, just a poor quality connection kind of sound and then "click" they hung up. when i called back, i was also told the number has been disconnected. wtf?  we must all have something in common folks. there is NO way that anyone was trying to sell anything OR ask me to take a survey at that hour. 250 220 1011 who the f&^% are you? i live in british columbia does everyone else?

Just like the rest of you, I got a call at 5:57 am from that number and they woke me up...later when I tried to call back the number was disconnected.  A pox on all of them.

After I answered the phone, a female recorded message said "good bye".

After reading other people's comments I'm wondering if I got this message, "good bye",  because my phone and computer are separate companies.  Do those with one company get someone answering?

The number called me today I answered and he said he was from Microsoft Company and wanted me to go to my computer and turn it on. He said I was getting a virus everytime I received or sent an email. I gave the call to my husband. My husband listened to him and told him that he would then unplug the computer and take it in to get it looked at, he got very upset and told him not to do that it would cost money that he could fix it right here online. My husband told him he did not believe anything he was saying that he was a liar. When my husaband was hanging up the caller said to him F**K YOU.

Yeah, keep getting these calls sometimes 3x a day if I question who it is they hang up on me.

Got a call from his number, the guy (South Asian accent) didn't know my name (a good thing), and when I didn't start talking (I wait if I don't recognise the number), the fellow said his name was Peter, he was from Microsoft, and my computer had been downloading huge amounts af malicious files; I interrupted him to say that wasn't possible, I don't have a computer,& he said I was lying.  I was lying, but my computer hasn't been turned on this week (why bother when you've got an iPad?), so I told him to "bugger off & not boher with this nonsense".  He told me to F Off repeatedly as I shut the 'phone off.

I also live in BC; I think they are using a 250 number to make us think that it is local.  I also have both InterWeb &'phone services through Shaw, which some folk had thought might be a factor.
