I am in Northern Ontario...got a call from this number & when you call it back it is not in service. Bell Canada says this happens when people buy disposable phones so that you cannot trace it so it must be telemarketers or a scam

Not for the first time, returned home to find this number had called while no one was here at home. Never a message. Suspect some sort of telemarketer, despite the fact my number has been on the do-not-call list since its inception.

I received a call today claiming that they are calling from CIBC VISA offering to lower my interest rate - they verified my address but did not address me by name - Sure who doesn't want their interest rate lowered - so I said, "Will I see it reflected on my next statement then?  Great! Thanks for the call to notify me, have a great day!!" (as I was ready to hang up the agent, then another agent came on he line pressing me to get my card as they needed to first verify that I am indeed the card holder - Red flag to me as they are calling me and then wanted me to get one of my statements to verify information - why?  Urged me that they are not a scam and that they indeed have all my information, but just needed to verify.  I continually said, "I don't know who you are and I am not comfortable divulging information over the phone. Happy to review any documents/flyers/information you can mail me as you have my address.  Then they hung up. Very unprofessional who-ever they are!!  I then immediately called CIBC Visa's customer service and a very professional representative answered that they receive calls about them all the time and that they are not employed by CIBC VISA, rather a third party provider, not illegal as they are offering the service to lower your interest cost - AT A COST.  Remember folks.. nothing is free!

I answered the phone to a woman who said her name was Roma and that she was calling from a company called Bills Debt , which worked with All credit card companies and all major banks. They have a service that will reduce your cc interest rate to 11% on your card but as well it will apply to any other card you have or will have in the future. And it will be at this rate for your lifetime.  Sign me up.  I then asked what is the catch.  She then refers me to another girl who is the manager named Kate. Kate then asked me what credit card I had and what was the number and expiry date.  I then said How can I be sure you area a legitimate company?
Her response was, check out our website  www.billsdebt.net   . I went to the computer and checked it out. As I was doing this Kates persistancy had me going and before long she wanted to know if I wanted to lower my interst rate and I agreed.  I have 2 cards and one has a small amount of money owing ,but it does only have a 2500 limit. My other card is my business card that is my life so I gave her the number on my little card and thought well if the 11% works here then it will work for my other card. Once I had given the number, I asked how much will this cost. She replied that it would be a 1 time fee of 1995.00 and it would never be charged again. Liftime, all cards, future cards, cuts minimal payments in half.   Good Deal.  She then said that she was connecting me to a guy who was confirming with me and with Visa that all was good and he would solidify the deal.
As I was being transfered to the guy he said hello and asked me my name , then we were cut off.
I began to search Billsdebt and found this site.  I immediately called Visa and asked them about this comapny called Billsdebt. I was told it was a scam, and was transfered to Visa fraud centre where I found that they had tried to put the 1995.00, but it was too much for my account.   I found that they take the money through the company called  Advantage Corporation Services  1-888-796-9619.   I canceled my card as well I made sure and canceled my other cards just in case.  I should have known better.
    SCAM!

    they were speaking english.
Unfortunately for them, i dont speak english  during a normal day.
    Smelt like a scam already.
their company name is " Build Dept"
LOL -> the last thing i want is  to "Build Dept" !!

Very Unprofessionnal employes, i started asking how they got my number, from who,
They never answered and they avoided the question stating what they knew,
basically nothing, (my name and phone number..)
i forgot to tell them that i am on the DO NOT CALL LIST list, but i doubt they would feel concerned.

For the people who are asking where to report or make a complaint, you have to got on the do not call canadian federal government web site at this address    https://www.lnnte-dncl.gc.ca/plt-cmp-eng   and make a complaint report on that site. You will need some info on who called, if you know, phone # called  from, a name if you have that info and the company name.

Picked up the call a few times.  The recording that begins the call doesn't indicate a company name but it's a credit card scam.  They attempt to use some official sounding language about a Government program or policy change that lets them offer a 0 percent interest credit card but mostly it just sounds nonsensical.  It's also a limited time deal-eo and the messages notes this is the last time they'll call (hahahaha - they don't really mean that).

Pressed "1" to speak to a human and asked to be removed from the call list.  Because if they're scammers, obviously they'll be inclined to respect my wishes.  Unsurprisingly, they've just continued to call.  I'm on the Do Not Call registry and have reported the number to the CTRC.

Saw the number appear and since I don't know who's calling, I did not answer.  They did not leave a message either.  If their call is important, you would think they would leave a message, but nooo, not too swift to leave message or identify themselves!
