Caller says "Call Mrs. Harris this is a local number"

Received call from "Mrs. Harris" wanting to get in touch with a neighbor (someone who is actually a relative).   I asked her what it was about and she just said it was "very important".  I told her I would contact this person if she would leave me her name and number, which she did.  She then proceeded to ask me how I was related to the person she was trying to get in touch with.  I told her that was not important and since she called my number, I was not obligated to give her ANY imformation about me or anything else.  My husband tried to call the number back and it just rang continuously.  He tried again after about 20 minutes.  When someone finally answered, he simply stated he had just walked in and saw the number on our caller ID and wanted to know who they were.  They said they were with Gordon Upshaw, who supposedly is an attorney in Mobile, AL.  I've done numerous searches for this attorney and am unable to find anything at all on him.

"Angela" called from this number, asking for a relative of mine. When asked what company she worked for, she replied only "A&A." I inquired further, "What is A&A?" she only said it was a business call. I took the name and number down, but felt it was a little off. Meanwhile, another relative called back and the lady said, "Hello" and did not say "A&A" until she was asked who it was. Then she said, "Armstrong and Associates." Very fishy, so I looked up Armstrong and Associates in the phone book. There was none. That is when I searched on Google and found this page with the bogus calls from just a couple days ago. Also, Whitepages.com has this as a private landline number, not as a business.

I am receiving almost daily calls from this number. This has been going on for several months. In fact, I just recieved on a few minutes ago. The calls most often come at this time of day (10:20 a.m. Central); however, they sometimes call as late as 8:30 at night.

I don't know anyone in Montgomery, AL. and this is not a free call but a long distance call. I am certainly not going to call them back. I'm happy to see that people are reporting these calls. It is good to know that when you Google a call, you can see the experiences that others have had when receiving calls from the same number. Please continue to report any and all calls of this nature you receive. It is of valuable help to others who are having the same problems as you.

My policy with the phone is, if I don't know the number and there is no name listed on the caller ID, I don't answer it. It only seems to encourage other such calls. I look up the number and if I can't find out who called me, they don't get a call back. My life is complicated enough without all these bogus calls. PLEASE: All of you remember never to give out any information of any kind to any of these callers.

I work as a paralegal and I started receiving numerous calls from these people on my cell phone.  So, I called them from my blocked work number gave them a fake name and told them I worked for xyz law firm and their area code 251 phone number showed up on our caller ID - who the hell were they?  They are Armstrong & Associates - they are a law firm who sue people and hound people...You can find their information by going to

I received a call from this number today asking for a co-worker of mine.  I have seen this number come across my caller ID several times the past few weeks and decided to answer it today.  The lady asked for my co-worker and I told her there was no one here by that name.  It sounded very suspecious so I googled the phone number and saw all of the postings.  I called the number back and the phone was answered by the same lady.  She said her company was "Armstrong & Associates".   Very strange.  I told her I had the wrong number and hung up.

I keep receiving calls from this number.  All hours of the day.  If I try to call back, all the recording says is "All agents are busy at this time."  Once before I talked to someone from here, but they were jerks.  I've never been talked to so rudely.  Apparently it's for a hospital bill from years ago.

This isn't the first time I've had a call from this number, but it appears they are getting progressively worse.  I've had several calls from this number and usually I just let the answering machine or voice mail pick it up.  Today when I answered it there was just silence and I stayed on the line until they hung up. Once before when I answered it they told me they were a collection angency and wanted me to give them money for a supposed debt to a Dr's office I have never heard of.  When I asked for some verification of the debt they hemmed and hawed around, insisting that I send them a check, not a money order, or give them credit card information to pay the supposed debt.  I never could get them to send me anything.  Quite frankly, I think it's a scam.
If you get a call from them, DON'T give them ANY information, least of all credit card or a check by phone.  If they were a ligitimate collection agency, they'd have no problem sending you verification of debt.

I keep getting a call from this number and they will not leave a message when I don't answer.

I to have received several calls from this number looking for someone I know.  They keep calling even though you tell him to stop.  Today, just about 4 minutes ago they called and said not a word to me on the phone so I googled it and wow what I found was this page.  I read and read all of these and I cant believe it.  I put it in my phone book on my cell phone under DNA (do not answer).  Scammmmmers

Received a call from Sue Ellis stating to have "my son" either stay on line or call back at 800#.  I stayed on the line and after a short "all agents are currently busy" recording a lady came on.  I asked what company this was, she said 'hold on one moment', long pause (so she doesn't know who she is working for?) then stated Armstrong and Associates.  I asked what the company does and she said collections.  My son does not have unpaid bills and has not received any communications from this company.  I believe this is a scam.  If they can not provide proof of the unpaid bill, you need to report them to the Attorney General's office in your state and in Alabama.

They're still at it. I got a call AT WORK. "Mrs. Savage" wanted me to submit a payment for a hospital bill from Jan. '08. At first I thought she was speaking of a $12. bill I owed on my son's hospital visit and when I said I'd send a check when I got home her voice sounded all giddy. She asked if I knew the amount to send - I told her $12. and she said no, it was for $600. for my daughter, (whom she mentioned by name and who has NOT been in the hospital). I told her she'd made a huge mistake and that I'd call when I got home. She gave the  1-800-940-4357 phone number and said she was with Armstrong & Assoc. This explains all the "unidentified caller" calls I've been getting for the last month and the messages they've been leaving asking me to call Baptist Hospital (except they left the same 1-800 number). I decided to Google this number before I called back. Glad I did.
 Have all of you had dealings with Baptist Hospital? Is the hospital giving out our personal info to others? I can't wait to talk to her again, and to Baptist as well. Thanks for everybody's imput. I'll post an update.

Armstrong and Associates is a legitimate Collection agency and they can help you if you help them . The Number one reason people think they are a scam is b/c they cannot release too much info to just  anyone  if you are not the person they are asking for or the person's spouse it is against the law for them to speak with you without that person's permission. The second reason why people think it is a scam is b/c they claim they don't get mail from them ... well the info they get is the info you give at the hosp or from whoever they are collecting for do not just assume it is for a hosp. or Dr office they collect for a wide variety of places but back to the mail if the add you gave to them is wrong or you have moved since then Armstrong and Assoc does not know that and this is why it is important for you to contact them if you are the person they are looking for. The third reason why people think they are a scam is b/c they can't give you all the details from why the debt was made they can simply only give you what they have on file for example if it is a hosp or Dr. bill they can give you the date of service but not what you were treated for that would be violating the HIPPA  law if you are not familiar with that call the Dr he can explain.So now whick brings me to what i said in the beginning  they can only help you if you want to be helped .

This number is Armstrong & Associates.  They are a collection agency for hospitals and some Dr's offices.  They are annoying and have trouble speaking English properly. Judging from the post above, trouble spelling as well.
I received a call from this firm about a past due bill.  Or, at least I think that's what she was saying.  I couldn't really tell because she was eating and smacking in my ear whilst yelling at someone in the background.  After asking for several minutes where the bill originated, she reluctantly told me.  I informed her that I would handle the balance with the Dr's office and hung up. They still call even though the bill has been paid.  Why?  They want the Dr's office to call them to let them know that the bill has been paid. How about YOU call them A&A? Really unprofessional company that employs D.A.'s

I just received a call from this number on my work cell phone. Only people within the company and my industry contacts have this number. I have another cell phone for personal calls. I did not recognize the number so I didn't pick up. They left a voicemail but apparently it was a recording as it ran over the greeting and only recorded the last bit of the message. I called back from my desk phone which only shows the main building number. They answered Armstrong & Associates and I just hung up the phone. I googled the number and found this website. If I start receiving multiple calls like this, I'm going to be very upset. I'll just turn it over to our corporate communications manager and let him handle it.

This number just called my mother's house and harassed her about my whereabouts. They have called before and I called them back from a cell phone and gave them the heads up that they could take their claim and put it in their a**. She said they would do whatever they had to in order to get the amount of the bill from me and I informed her that she could go right ahead and do whatever she felt was necessary. These people (Armstrong & Associates) obviously have a very poor business ethic and practice and I feel that they are crossing the line. Even though it probably won't do any good, I am going to report them to the Better Business Bureau.
