Got unwanted call from ID James Fowler. Caller did not leave a message when I did not answer. Just wondering where it originated.

Answered this call today.  It was from Alabama, a "handicapped organization" selling various products at outrageous prices.  Offered pepper spray for $37 and also the "forever light bulbs".  Supposedly they send them on the honor system and you remit after receiving them.  Doesn't sound too good to me.  I told him I had the number on caller ID and if I wanted something I would call them back.  I was way too nice considering---I should have told them to take a hike!!

The original call came from a man selling products made by the blind.  I said I wasn't interested - but I got the God Bless You's and I know you're a Christian person etc. I was in a hurry - rushing out the door and asked the caller to call back.  I told them I wasn't paying $70 for trash bags.  The guy totally misrepresented that the money would be going to a local business.  I thought it was a business in our community - so the name they used must have been similar.  I said I had to go and the guy said he would send the trash bags - but just half on the honor system - which he did.   He said that he would trust me to send the payment and that my payment would give 3 blind people work for three weeks - or something to that effect.  The package arrived and sat unopened for days.  When I finally opened the invoice, I was dismayed to see that the money was to be remitted to Mobile, AL and not stay local at all.  I signed onto the computer to compose a letter requesting my name be placed on their no call list - when something made me google the company name - and here I am.  I am unclear what to do from here.  I was clearly misled - but I also have not actually sent any money or given any information other than address. However, I also have the product - I must sound that honest - or is the word gullible?  Do I send it back?  Am I legally obligated to pay for something I was sent on the honor system?  are there really even any blind or diabled workers involved??  Incidently, the trash bags are terrible!! Suggestions?

Wouldn't a legitimate business or charity leave a message?

Caller from 1-251-660-2832 called today and I knew it was some type of callcenter or sales. I said I was not home when i answered the phone and asked if i could take a message. the caller then bacame very rude and asked if my mom was home. I am 28years old and definately don't live with mom, I told him to please take us off their call list and he said "no, your just some punk kid, I aint takin you off the call list" I hung up at that point. this call center sucks... i would love to call this person back at home at 4:00 am for the next week or so to see how much he enjoys the unwanted phone calls.

Today I received the dreaded call from James Fowler, 251-660-2832.  I didn't bother to answer since I didn't know any James Fowler.  After checking this site I called the number, but no one answered.

I got a call at 8:55 pm on 1-12-09 i was sleeping and they said they would call back, but something did not seem right so i tried the yellow book online and found this site i am from vale nc and i only help local people i just do not feel like this is a charity it has to be a scam why would it be a persons name on the caller id

These jerks have pestered me for years. Sound nice but real high pressure crooks. When they call now, I just tell them that Mr. so-and-so passed away last night and please do not bother the family anymore.

had trouble with those groups here, also. and the trash bags were awful. CHEAP/THIN. and an outrageous price. also, when they called at a later year, and my 78 year old mother declined because she did not have the money, the man on the other end asked how she would like it if he jammed his helmet down her throat. she was quite upset. i believe he was referring to the helmet some of the handicapped wear. i tell them to remove me when they call, and i also tell them about the threatening call we received from a charity orginization. they rarely bother me anymore.

Two days in a row.  Had time today to use Google to check the phone number.  used 251-660-2832.

these people sell things for the blind.It is true i have brought stuff from them in the past.Those light bulbs are the best .They last longer then any light bulb  i ever had.Please buy from them good people

Last year they called and they would not take no for an answer.  Finially, I just aggreed and when the oder came in, I sent it back.  This year, the nicest guy called and I could not tell him no.  So I ordered the 9 lightbulbs at 7 dollars each.  Jeff then called me back from this number to verify the order.  He was very nice and polite.  I then googled and came up with this website.  Not finding anything else about the company, I called them back and cancled my order.  I want to know about the company I do business with.  They have no web-site.  Jeff was very nice, said no problem and cancled my order.  They have a 800 number, it is 800-322-7986.  They may be a fine company, but until I read something possitive I will not pay the prices they are asking for.  Good luck!!

They got my answering service and did not leave a message.  Typical of junk calls.

I, also, received a call from James Fowler but no message was left! Very strange!

The lady that called was very polite and kept saying, "You sound like a nice lady" and "God Bless you" and etc...  It made me feel good that she was so polite.  Then I asked for prices and most items were around $30-$40 and I am sorry but that is alot of money for those items. I said it was more money than I wanted to spend.  Then she tried to sell me product which she said was their lowest priced item at $29.95, and then she added that she believes what goes around comes around. I said, "I'm sorry but we just can't afford that" then she hung up on me. Now when I see James Fowler on our caller id we just won't answer.

When woman called she asked if this was Mr. ******.  I said no (I am a woman) and she asked if this was Mrs. ***** and I replied "whatever" (since I'm not a Mrs.).  She then hung up.
Now if they call back, I'll have some information and hopefully get my number removed!  Thanks
