Same thing just happened to me.  "Press 2 if you'd like to face legal charges..." or something to that effect.

All of the above comments.  I block the number every time they call, they change the number.

Called my parents home phone stating the same as all the others here. Kevin Masons accent sounds more like Kevinich Masinsky.. This is just a roboscam call to be taken more as amusement than realistic. I find them freaking hilarious most of the time. Problem is sometimes people do take them as authentic. You would think that if you were under indictment for something the person on the other end of the phone would at least know your name.

These criminals called my phone which has gone unanswered since January twice this morning.  We use line as a fax line and for outgoing calls only.  Since that line does not ring I had no idea that they had called twice with the same number.  You have to find me first to prosecute me, lol.  IDIOTS stop calling and get a real job.

Called my home twice today and with a foriegn accent twice identified himself as Perry Mason . Really , do they think we are that stupid ?????

Display shows "Backbone Community".  Recorded message is poor quality, noisy background. Typical IRS scam call. Male voice has strange accent to it - perhaps middle eastern country.  Any word with a "v" sound comes out with a "w" sound; e.g. "advise" sounds like "adwise".  Now blocked.  Don't bother to answer these morons.

Threats...federal case....grand jury...blah blah blah....If I was President I'd have a special hit squad for people like this.

This is an obviously scam call.  They do not state the name of the intended recipient, the name of their organization, and the crime you have supposedly done.  Secondly, criminals appear before ordinary courts, not grand juries.

I read in the NYT that 600 people arrested in Mumbai, India for IRS scams they are running on US citizens.  Estimated $50 Million dollars scammed from people in the US.  More arrests maybe coming the article said.  And we can only hope they get these criminals in those raids.

It was actually 70 people arrested.

States use grand juries occasionally to return indictments against people suspected of committing a crime.  The federal government uses them excliusively for criminal prosecutions.  But this is all a scam by the IRS scammers in India and Pakistan.  No one is prosecuted int eh US for ordinary tax disputes.  Tax disputes are basically civil matters and are normally dealt with adminstrativey.    IRS does not inititate contacts by phone in any case.  US mail only.  Ignore and block these calls.

Anyone hit by these IRS scams should consider blocking the following area codes:
206  253  360  425 509  564  also are code  202.  The stupid scammers don't understand the difference between Washington State and Washington DC.   They think that the people they call will think that the Washington State area code calls  come from Washington DC.

Left a VM  saying the call was on behalf of Treasury dept and failure to call back would result in further legal action. Inye resting the number they called is a land line I received from Cox 2 months ago and I have never given it out to anyone and do not use it.
