- David A.| 24 repliesI received a phone call from this number that I won a federal government price of 7,000 that I have been chosen for being a good citizen with no criminal records etc... but for me to get the price a had to send $198 and they will unlock the tracking number for me to retrieve the price from western union, I told them that I checked my bank account and that I don't have that amount of money and told them deduct those 198 bucks from my price and just send me the $6802 they told me that they were not able to do that since I don't remember the reason because he had a very strange accent.

• There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.
• If it sounds (or looks) too good to be true, it probably is.
• You have not won big bucks from a benign benefactor, a pot of pesos from PCH, dinero from a doctor, or a grant from a gracious government <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
• The tooth fairy really does not exist
• Everything you read on the internet is not necessarily true.
• It is illegal to ask for money for a loan or prize, before awarding the loan or prize!
• "Free Trips" are loaded with mandatory & costly extras, and you usually must give them your card number after listening to a loooong spiel at a hotel.
• Microsoft or one of their agents did NOT cold call you to fix your computer.
• The moon is not made of green cheese.
• The IRS will snailmail you, rather than phone you, if there is a problem.
• Jackalope milk is not an aphrodisiac.
• If you "green dot", MoneyGram or Western Union money to a scammer, the money is gone.
• You should beware of Greeks bearing gifts, specially if the gift is a wooden horse with termites.

I kept telling him he was scamming me and the government doesn't make calls like that. I asked him what my name was and he wouldn't tell me saying that he couldn't give out private information. I asked him so many times what my name was and he couldn't tell me. He just kept asking me if I was the owner of this phone number and other stupid questions trying to get info from me. I asked what agency he was with and wouldn't give me a name and said he was out of CA and when I said the number came up as WA he stuttered and said that was actually where it was. So sarcastically I asked him if he just wanted my credit card number or bank info or what. He was really annoying and kept deflecting when I would tell him he was mean for calling and trying to get money out of people. He acted hurt when I told him that he was trying to get money out of me and that the government wouldn't just hand out money. I told him my dad works for the government and I wanted his ID number so get him checked. ANYWAY, DON'T FALL FOR IT!!!!
- WillI got the same call from the same number 20 mins ago. He had a kind of Indian accent. He has tried to call my cell phone 3 times already and was unable to connect until today. He knew my daughters name (a 7 year old) and was asking to talk to her, I told him that I was her father and he hung up after a few seconds.
- TheronksI blow a whistle into the phone. Makes me feel much better.

- Dee| 1 replyNormally with these types of calls I tell them that I am recording and they usually get upset and ask me not to record. When I say no, they hang up. This time was so much better.
Caller: You are not permitted to record this conversation. Please turn off your recording device.
Me: Nope.
Caller: Excuse me?
Me: Nope.
Caller: Madam, I must insist you stop recording this conversation immediately.
Me: WHAT? What did you call me. I want your name, your supervisor's name and your company name. How dare you slander me?
Caller: Madam?
Me: There you go again. Slander I tell you. I'll sue, I'll sue.
Caller: Madam, please calm down. Have you stopped recording?
Me: Of course not, I told you I wasn't going to stop. I've got you on a recording slandering me twice. I want your name, your supervisor's name and your company name and address.
Caller: dead silence for about 30 seconds and then he hung up.
My husband is rolling on the floor laughing. I had to explain to his brother that a madam was a lady of the evening and therefore the caller was implying my job was illegal. - AndiI asked him what branch of government was he with, and couldn't even answer. I told him the US government doesn't hand out $ and hung up.

- KennySame phone call twice today. First time a lady who claimed I was awarded $15000 from the government because I didn't have a criminal record. I went along with it and let her ask for my bank account info and ten informed her she was full of [***] because I do have a past criminal record and she should go @$%# herself. About an hour later a guy called this time with the same b.s. I told him he was full of @$%#! and I was reporting him. The call disconnected immediately.
- jr| 1 replySame scenario here, but I told them if they are from the US government they would not have an Indian accent. The ignorance of these people amazes me! If you're going to scam someone, at least have a believable story! F@$#ing LIARS!
